  1. Hi,

Nothing much to offer but prayers.

I hope somebody in this board can answer your questions and give you enlightenment on your issues. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the doctors find some kind of resolution to your problems other than a permanent feeding tube.

    Hang in there!!!

    Prayers,

    Theresa

  2. Hi Berisa,

I am so so sorry that you are going through this tough time. My Dad also had hallucanations when he was on steroids and I know how scary this could be for you and your family. Please hang in there, perhaps tomorrow will be better. I will be saying a special prayer for your Dad.

  3. Colleen,

I am so sorry for your lost. Your pain and devastation are so apparent in your post. I wish I could be there as somebody to lean on during this time but all I could offer are prayers.

  4. Hello Natalie,

I too am from the San Jose area. I lost my beloved Dad in August of 2002. He was diagnosed with NSCLC a month before when he suffered a stroke and was hospitalized. He never recovered from that stroke (which was caused by cancer) and was in hospice in our house for 4 days before he passed away. I too sometimes felt guilty and had asked myself if I could have done more. During that time my Mom was recovering from open heart surgery from which she suffered severe complications. She was in ICU for 6 weeks. Our attention was focused on my Mom (who was also fighting breast cancer) that we did not notice my Dad's pains and symptoms. He probably was also keeping them to himself at that time too. Two days after my Mom came home from the hospital, we rushed my Dad to e.r. and he passed away a little over a month later.

What gave me solace and comfort is knowing that he is in a better place and is not suffering anymore. Although the pain is still there, time has taken the edge out of it somewhat. This message board also has helped me deal with my lost.

Please stay on as I had done. You will find comfort and support here.

  7. Hello,

I am sure people on this board will correct me if I am wrong, but my perception is that having previous chemo treatments lessen one's chances of getting into clinical trials. Please don't let this influence your decision as I am sure lots more board members have a lot to share with you.

  9. Rachel,

Nothing much to offer but prayers. Brain mets are very much beatable as proven by a lot of brave people here in this board.

In the meantime have fun camping in Oregon. Oregon is my favorite place to camp. We've camped at Fort Stevens and Honeyman a few years ago and will be going back to Honeyman this summer.

Hang tight! You'll be in my prayers.

    Theresa
