    Been enjoying summer

    Hi all

    sorry I haven't been on more! I have been taking advandage of my good health & really enjoying the summer & my family! I am really glad that I did!

    August 20th I had a cat scan. It has been 2 months since I had one! Well, not good news! the turmons in my left & right lung have started to grow again! I was to start chemo again on the 27th. But didn't as I got an infected pancreas landed in the hospital for 2 days til they got it under cantrol. Then finish healing it at home. Very painful!

    I am to start chemo again Sept 3rd. HOPEFULY!

    The good news is that the cancer has not spread to any other part of my body!!!

    I had hope that the remission would of lasted a little longer! Oh well another bump in the road!

    Please pray for me!

    I agree with you!!!!! how do people pay for the expense of cancer without GOOD Ins. I am very Lucky to have good Ins. But one day when I was having chemo treatment the pharmarist came in to give me some medicine to take home. We got to talking about how expensive some of the drugs are. I said what do people that don't have ins. do ? go without the medicne that they need & just wait to dye? He told me that they try working with the people that don't have Ins. they know of some charity groups that will help people & they also encourage people like me that have medicine that hasn't been open to give it to them then they can give it to people that need it & can't afford it! I THOUGHT THAT WAS A MARVOLOUS IDEA!!!!! I had individual measured shots that I had to take. I had 10 of them left. I also had other medicine that I had to have on had in case I needed & fourtuntaly didn't need so was able to give that medicine also! That made me feel alot better about my unused medicineI didn't have to throutgh it away! As it was very expensive medicine! my co-pay was $300.00 I go to U W cancer center.

    So my advice would go to your state cancer hsopital or cancer center & ask for help, or maybe other hopsitals will help too! Does your mom's Dr. that is giving her Iressa know that she doesn't have Ins to cover it? Maybe the Dr will have some suggestion also. There is help out there but the trouble is to find it!!!

    five days is to many days to have headaches like that! Call your Dr. now!

    If it is nothing to worry about. no big deal! u can bereleive :) But if it is something you want to get ahead start on correcting it! :):D

    Ihad 6 rounds of cabro & taxol. I had a cat scan after every 2 treatments.

    the first 2 scans showed tremous reductions in the tumors!!! :D

    yhe 3rd one didn't show any inprovement :cry: But it hadn't grown either!!!! :D

    My Dr. said that I should have a cat scan evry 2 months & when it starts to grown we will start a new treatment.

    Til then I am enjoying LIFE to the HILT!!! :lol::lol: I feel really GOOD!!!

    Best than I have felt in 2 years!

    I don't know how the Drs deceide what treatments to use.

    You are a survivor!! Until your last breath! Chemo has it affects not very good ones either! But after you completed all the chemo treatment the side affects do go away & you do feel better!!

    I know It has been five weeeks since I have finished taxol & Carbo & I feel Great :D:D Got all my Strenght back & all

    I am safe for a couple months!

    Hi All

    Got my cat scan results yesterday! Had my last chemo treatment 3 weeks ago!

    The Doc thinks I am in remission!!! Since I started my treatments Feb. 7,2003 the cancer in the lymth nodes around the waist is gone!!! The right lung cancer is gone the lymth nodes between the lungs is a speck! The tumor in the left lung is about 3/4 the size it started out to be!!! : :lol::lol:

    I go back in 2 mo for another cat scan! Til then I am going to get ALL my strenght back & enjoy LIFE :!::!: So I be ready to start again if need be!

    I really feel I won a battle! :wink: As was on oxygen 24/7 and the Dr. had given me 3 months to live! Now don't even have oxygen in the house! Don't need it!!!

    my hubby and I going on a little minni trip leaving today! We are just getting in the car & going don't know where we will end up but plan on being gone about 5 days!

    I like that story! but was sory to hear of the long year that went with it!

    I am glad that he proved that Dr. wrong!!! As I did my Dr. Also! He gave me 3 mo.

    I also walked the surviver lap of our Relay for Life!

    Great News about the cat scan!!! :D:D

    Too Bad about the treatment though! but there is always next week when white cells hopefully be up!

    I know I was always anxious when ever I went for treatment incase they deceided that I couldn't have it that week for what ever reason. I wanted in me so I could get that da- cancer out of me!!!!

    Glad you can play golf as time can get on ones hands with out something to do!

    I too wonder why teenagers smoke today! For at least the last 10 years maybe more! The children have been educated in schools about what smoking does to them!

    I too get quite anger! & can't understand why teenagers start smoking!

    I have two teenager grandchildren that have started smoking. I had a FIT about it when I found out, CAUSE them same 2 kids used to hallor at me and made it really hard for me to smoke.

    I asked them right out why they smoke when they been educated against it & hated when growning up. I said is it because tabbaco co. advertizements. They said no! They have seen more advertizements against smoking! than they have for smoking!

    They said it was mostly cause they were told not too!!! They were showing people that they could if they wanted to. Also it helped them with stress! My Grand daughter about 4 years ago was put on pills to help with stress & anxiousty. She didn't like the way the pills made her feel! So took up smoking whitch helped her better so she says.

    Even with me getting lung cancer hasn't made her quit!! Though people are yelling at her to Quit! I don't yell at her, cause it has to be her decesion in order to quit! I have quit whitch was very hard!!! even with getting cancer!

    What really makes me mad!!! is A few years back Several States went after the tobacco co. & got millons of dollars to put toward not smoking education, help people to quit smoking medical expenses & research for smoke related deseases!!! I know OUR STATE Of WIS. DID NOT DO THAT!!!!! They sat on the money for awhile! Now deceided to use it to reduce the STATE deficent Whitch I feel the politicions made in the first place! I feel that is very wrong to do when they went after the tobacco companies for what they did to people that smoked!

    Smoking has dropped considerable in the last few years & will in the future with all the smoke banning going on witch is good!

    HI All

    Just wanted to tell you that I finished my last round of Chemo treatments on Wed! :D:D:D The Nurse gave me a certificated that I gradurated from Chemo & then gave me a bottole of bubble champange!!!!! Loved it!! :D:D ( it was grape juice)

    I gpo back June 17th for a cat scan of chest & stomach. The 18th Will see my onc to find out the results! He is hoping & thinking from past scans that I will just have to be put on amaintance program!!!! LOVE THAT NEWS!!!
