  2. Welcome. I have been here less than a week myself and find this site very informative. Best to both you and your husband.
  3. Just wondering of all the side effects listed have you all had problems when 1st taking Iressa? He is anxious about this new medication just as he has anxious about the other 2 chemo treatments he took the 1st time. Any sharing of information would certainly be appreciated.
  4. Thank you very much Ginny. We will discuss with the Dr. next time we see him.
  5. My husband will be applying for a permanent disability from his employer. We are unsure if we should go ahead and apply for disability social security before or after he does this. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks for any and all replies.
  6. Happy Birthday MaryAnn. I just gotta say I love that avatar. We are dog lovers and I find that avatar just too precious.
  7. Well he is done with chemo now and is still experiencing the muscle aches and pains. He will start on Iressa either tomorrow or Thurs. I was just wondering. Thanks for your response.
  8. My husband and experienced a lot of muscle aches & joint pain. I told him I would post on this board and see if others have experienced the same and what they take for it. Any and all input would be appreciated.
  9. Welcome. Glad you have joined us. Although I have only been a member of this board for a very few days I find this the most informative and friendly place.
  10. Shiva welcome and glad to have you join us. I have read many good things on this drug Iressa (which by the way my husband will start taking later in the week). Just take the time and read some of the posts and I think you will definately walk away with a better feeling about things. Take care and God bless you and your family.
  11. My husband's oncologist says cancer is now treated as a chronic disease. Five years ago he told my husband he would have had to say sorry there isn't anything I can do. In five short years they have come one hell of a long way in the treatment of all types of cancers. Just think of what the next 5 years will bring.
  12. I'm relatively new to this site. I have read in more than one case that people are taking Iressa & also taking Celebrex. From what I can find out about the drug Celebrex it seems to be for joint relief. My husband will start on Iressa later this week and I'm wondering if some of the side effects are joint related. This board is just wonderful!!!!! Finally a place where you can seek information others have experienced and also share your trials and tribulations.

    NAUSEA!

My husband had similar symptoms after chemo. His doctor prescribed Zofran (although expensive - about $30 per pill and thankfully covered by our health insurance plan + co-pay) it did work for him. I hope he starts feeling better soon. My thoughts and prayers are with both of you.
  14. Welcome to the group. Hopefully the new chemo won't be has hard on him as the other was. Glad you dropped in.
  15. I just joined this board yesterday and already have several responses to my post. This is a wonderful place and seems like everyone is so helpful and caring. Thanks all.
  16. I would like to thank each and every one of you for responding. I feel better out this pill Iressa. I really do think our health insurance will cover this but the Dr. has to tell them what treatments he has already had (like they couldn't check their own records for what they had already paid for!). So it will be about 1 week until we know for sure and if they don't we will just pay for it ourselves.
  17. Hi. I would like to introduce myself my name is Dolly. My husband is the one with cancer, he is a white male, 52 years old and was a heavy smoker for about 30 + years (he quit smoking in Oct. 2003). He has lung cancer (adenocarcinoma). I'm looking for information on the drug Iressa. He was diagnosed in May 2003 with Stage IV. He has taken taxol & carboplatin (6 treatments) with good results (shrinkage approximately 50%). In Feb of this year cancer starting growing again and was taking gemzar or something in that family of chemo drugs. Scans showed it's now growing again and Dr. suggests Iressa to hopefully hold the growth. We are current waiting for insurance to ok this prescription. Perhaps someone on this board has been through this scenario and can shed some light on this subject for us.
