  1. Havent yet had the experience, tho neighbors and relatives all ask "how you doin?" normal, I guess...

Anyway, if they keep treating u like a ghost, do like celebrities do, go out in disguise...get a real sick looking mask to wear when u got out in public..so youll look like they expect u too...

Course Im sure its not funny when that happens...and sorry it does...but Ill bet u handle it creatively, as u do most things..? Rich B.

  2. I think its almost impossible to keep from getting the frustration and despair that we all feel from this crappy disease.

Im one of the most fortunate, (early stage surgery), here..as these things go, but Ive still had my bouts with depression, sadness and vented them here. Fortunately for us..here is great ppl...and understanding we might not get anywhere else. So post it all...good or bad, and we all understand and learn from it, while we try to help an support..Rich B.

  3. Welcome Home; urs and ours here. Glad u got good treatment , hope u can get some sleep. (Tried sleeping in the recliner again?)

I guess I was lucky, after surg. , I didnt even notice the drain tube holes till after several days at home...and they were healed up, just red marks there. Hmmm..and It was only 7-10 days after surg. Dunno, wish the incision and the missing rib area woulda done the same....sigh.

Anyway, sorry ur having to deal with these things. But, geez...wont anything keep u off the streets at 4am? hehe...

Glad to see u back and feisty as ever..Rich B.

P.S. I tossed back my first beer since surgery, musta been celebrating ur return!

  4. Hi Mike; and welcome to probly the most helpful group u could have found. I havent had the radiation experience, but many here have, and Im sure theyll be along shortly to help answer ur question.

As for the ups and downs....we bring them here. People here will listen and offer info and support when ur down, (we even whine at times, its ok.), and when ur up...post it and folks will celebrate with you. Its a great group here, and it has probly saved me a fortune in shrink visits..hehe.

So, post away, youll see what I mean...welcome again...Rich B.

  5. Yea...My instinct is to look for help and support, when I find myself in panic mode, such as when I was dx'ed with LC. If I hadnt found this group so fast, probly woulda haddda spring for a visit to a shrink. hehe

But folks are all different; I found when I asked an old friend, who last year had cancer, if she had found a good support group. She said no, she didnt wanna read about it, learn more about it, just wants to keep it off her mind. A kind of blissful denial to her , I guess.

Me...? Im darn glad I found this group quickly. And all the great folks in it.

Thanx to all of you for all you contribute..Rich B.

  6. How about 9 months in the recliner..? Thats what I did after pnuemonectomy...just wasnt comfortable even looking a t the bed. Finally got to bed tho..in the spring. Still cant sleep on surg. side tho..(used to be my fav. side).

So dont feel alone if its some time before u wanna lay down in bed. heh.

    k...take care....Rich B.

  7. Good luck on the job Debi. Hate those kinda questions too.

Yea; ran into a judge like that, in Ca.,...never looked up from his doodling, jus stuck it to me when the droning lawyers, and me, got done. Thing is, he sent me to defensive driving classes. Even tho the accident was unavoidable. Best thing that ever happened to me, it turned out...educated me to the dangers from other drivers...probly saved my life several times since.

The moral? Dunno, maybe that even a droll judge can cause some good, if only by malevolence. Maybe theres a blessing in disguise in some of these things.

anyway, good luck and take care..Rich B.

  8. Yea, a lot to deal with...if things arent being explained clearly and u arent comfortable with the surg.s advice...a second opinion might really be helpful. Whether they agree or disagree, u may get more options...good luck...Rich B.

  9. Yea, as someone once posted here...if we could remember all the weird substances we are exposed to in a lifetime..fossil fuels, fumes, chemicals, air pollution, pvc's, medical/dental radiation, suns rays, food additives, water impurities..etc., etc., .... A supercomputer could not sort out all the interactions and mutations of genes that could result.

We'll simply never know till research pins it down someday...which may be a heck of a long time. So all we can do is concentrate on treatments, survival, I would say. Finding something that works! Best of luck to us all. Rich B.
