daggiesmom Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Just heard tonight at 9pm - NY time- CNBC will have the heads of the major cancer centers discussing advances in cancer. Might be interesting. I hope lung cancer is discussed. Joanie Quote
bobmc Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Thanks Joanie, My mom had already told me about it, she was really scared when I was dx.ed, Anyway, I watched it, alot of optimism, nothing earth shattering, and I gotta tell ya, I didn't get a warm - fuzzy feeling when they showed the 5 year survival rate for lung cancer on the bottom of the pack at 15%. And all they could say was tobacco, tobacco tobacco; I did like the fact that the State of Maryland is using tobacco monies for research, I think Kentucky is also doing a good job at that. Anyway let me know what you thought. Maybe it was just me. God bless and be well Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB -left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 ' absolutely insist on enjoying life today!" Quote
daggiesmom Posted July 1, 2003 Author Posted July 1, 2003 Dear Bob, I, too, didn't like the 15% rate I saw; I also felt that these drs. should emphasize to the public what a killer LUNG CANCER is to the whole population. Honestly, sometimes i think the stigma will never go away. On the up side, it is uplifting to see such dedicated people working on this. Joanie Quote
