mamasbabygirl Posted November 3, 2005 Share Posted November 3, 2005 Hey y'all. Mom is on 16 mg of decadron currently to try to reduce brain edema. For the last 2 days, her left foot, ankle, leg are terribly swollen. I know that this can be a side effect of the steroid. Would you call the oncologist to advise? shineladysue Posted November 3, 2005 Share Posted November 3, 2005 Lori, When Mike was on higher doses of prednisone he had swelling in the feet, ankles and legs. The big clue was that it was both of them and not just one. Just one can possibly indicate one of two things. Maybe she only keeps the one dangling or it coud be swelling due to blood clot or some other cause. Another thing that accompanied the increased fluid retention with Mike was increase in blood pressure. The doctor put him on diuretics and potassium to control all of it.
