Brian K. Osberg

Brian Keith Osberg, 57 ROCKFORD - Brian Keith Osberg, 57, a lifelong resident of the Rockford area, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006. Born June 4, 1948, to Ernest C. Osberg and Ruby W. Nordeen Osberg, he attended Rockford schools and graduated from East High School in 1966. He completed his machinist's apprenticeship in 1971 and worked in that trade as a DeVlieg operator for 37 years. Brian married Jan Blakeley in 1970, and of that union, his two daughters were born. In 1995, Brian married Pat Wiler (Brian and Pat always joked that they found each other on their last good day). Brian was truly a gentle man and had a heart of gold. He loved working in his yard and feeding his "critters." Brian also enjoyed restoring his classic 1956 Chevrolet. In 2001, Brian lost his right hand in an industrial accident. Bravely and with dogged determination, he taught himself all that he needed to master in order to go right back to his job and daily life. Most recently, he battled against his cancer with the same spirit and resolve. Brian was a grateful and joyful member of New Life Lutheran Church. Survivors include wife, Pat; daughters, Lori (Pete) Montana and Lisa (Joel) Montoya; mother, Ruby; and stepsons, Daniel, Greg (Son-ya) and Eric (Diana) Mosher. Also left to remember Grandpa are Whitney, Gabrielle, Amanda, Andrea, Joel, Allison, Jacob, Parker, Elizabeth and Dori. Very special family to Brian are Bruce Curtin and Pat's siblings, Mary (John) Loete, JR McCumber, Peter Mc-Cumber and Tim Moran and their families; and Pastor Henselin and Vicar Krause and the New Life Lutheran Church Community. Predeceased by his father, Ernest. Visitation and memorial service Saturday, Jan. 7, in New Life Lutheran Church, 1100 N. Lyford Road; visitation from 1 to 3 p.m., with memorial service beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Philip Henselin and Vicar Brian Krause will officiate. Mr. Osberg was accorded cremation rites per his directive. Interment of the ashes will be at a later date and private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road. Send online condolences to www.fitzgeraldfh.com .
