Guest Zimbo2 Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Hi all, Just to let you know how my mom is doing: Friday last week she had her first chemo treatment, 2400ml of Gemcitabine (Gemzar) and 450ml of Carboplatin(Paraplatin) along with steroids. She has had no problems at all this week. Far from feeling sick or tired she has been full of energy and thanks to the steroids her breathing has been easier. She is receiving her next treatment today and we are hoping she feels OK. We are expecting the decline of her immune system of course - so looking out for infections and the tiredness. Will keep you all posted. Cheers Zimbo (Follow on to "Help with Confusion - Mother has lung cancer"). Quote
Guest Zimbo2 Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 My mom had her second chemo treatment on Friday. This time just Gemzar. No steroids either and doing well. No side-effects. She now skips a week to let her system recover. She gets the results of her bone scan on Monday next week. Will keep you all updated. Cheers Zimbo Quote
Debaroo Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Zimbo, glad that you posted an update on your mom. It is great that she is feeling so great. Just don't get too nervous if she eventually starts to feel tired or a metallic taste in her mouth, or hair loss. Remember, the effects of chemo are cumulative, so sometimes they don't kick in until later in the game. Then again, some people pretty much glide through. But she's off to a GREAT START ! Please continue to keep us posted. Cheers to you too!! Take care, Deb Quote
