Susan_Xu
After 8 rounds of chemo therapy, my dad is now on Tacerva. Last week (the 3rd week) he had a CT and blood test. The CT showed the tumor in his lung is stable, however, the blood test of CEA is not good. It is higher than before. Now it is almost 76. The normal level should be less than 5. He is very upset. My dad has whole body rash after taking tacerva and swollen of his fingers and legs. His doctor does not sure Tacerva is working. Want to do another test in another 2 weeks. If still not good, will do PET. Unlike here in the states, Tacerva and PET are covered by insurance, in China patients have to pay them from their own packet. It is very hard. Christine
Susan, The link below will direct to you a study which shows that the appearance of a rash in cancer patients treated with Tarceva is strongly associated with longer survival. I hope this is the case for your dad. http://www.newswise.com/articles/view/531266 Christine
janehill
Wow! You know what's really fascinating? That the highest survival came from patients treated with placebo who developed a rash. Amazing!
