carlton
Hi everyone.-- What is the normal reading or number of wbc. And if low should chemo continue or stopped till it comes up? thanks for you replays. Carlton
Andrea B.
Carlton, I can't remember the exact ranges, something like 11 to 14 and I think it is percentages. My mom's oncologist measures this and her platelet count to determine if she will receive chemo. He has a baseline number for the WBC and I think it is if it drops below 4 (can't remember the exacts). When it is too low he won't give her treatment that week. She then returns in a week and has her blood counts tested again. This past week her WBC was too high, due to a Neulasta shot, and she wasn't able to receive treatment. I hope this helps. Carolyn Flournoy
Carlton My husband's last blood work print out says WBC range should be between 4.1 - 10.9. Can't tell you if to low or to high would prohibit chemo from taking place. Carolyn
kimblanchard
Bill's count went to 2.2 once and the oncologist said it was borderline not to give chemo. Peg
