For My Daughter Tina...

Seems like yesterday I held you in my arms for the first time-- Thinking about how I told everyone we where going to have a girl, everyone would ask how do I know, I just said I know. Watching your cousins Teri and Tara race you back and forth down the corridor of the hospital to see who could do it faster.

Seems like yesterday how we would do things together-- Watch TV with you sitting in my lap, play games, go to the park, walk round the neighborhood and everyone would say their goes Tina with her dad.

Seems like yesterday when you first started school-- When we got there and it was time to go in you would rap your arms around my leg and say no daddy please don’t let them take me.

Seems like yesterday all the found memories of holidays and your birthday-- Sitting they’re watching you open your presents; the smile on your face said it all. How much I enjoyed dressing up as Santa and finally you where at the age where you knew it was me.

Seems like yesterday before we knew it you where graduating from High School, then College-- How proud I was and how you turned out to be a beautiful young woman.

Seems like yesterday when you got your license-- How nervous you where when you drove while I was in the car.

Seems like yesterday I was taking care of you-- Now it is you who is taking care of me, being here for me, supporting me no matter what, giving me hope and showing your love for me.

These memories and so many others will always be a part of me and what keeps me going. I’m very blessed and fortunate to have a wonder beautiful daughter. Thank you for being the daughter I always wanted. You are my pride and joy and I love you Tina!

A very special friend sent me this song and every time I hear it I thing of you.

>>"Father and Daughter" Paul Simon

If you leap awake

In the mirror of a bad dream

And for a fraction of a second

You can't remember where you are

Just open your window

And follow your memory upstream

To the meadow in the mountain

Where we counted every falling star

I believe the light that shines on you

Will shine on you forever

And though I can't guarantee

There's nothing scary hiding under your bed

I’m gonna stand guard

Like a postcard of a Golden Retriever

And never leave till I leave you

With a sweet dream in your head

I'm gonna watch you shine

Gonna watch you grow

Gonna paint a sign

So you'll always know

As long as one and one is two

There could never be a father

Who loved his daughter more than I love you

Trust your intuition

It's just like going fishing

You cast your line

And hope you'll get a bite

But you don't need to waste your time

Worrying about the market place

Try to help the human race

Struggling to survive its harshest night

I'm gonna watch you shine

Gonna watch you grow

Gonna paint a sign

So you'll always know

As long as one and one is two

There could never be a father

Who loved his daughter more than I love you

I'm gonna watch you shine

Gonna watch you grow

Gonna paint a sign

So you'll always know

As long as one and one is two

There could never be a father

Who loved his daughter more than I love you
