RandyW
mercy mission turned tragic Tuesday morning when a Long Island couple en route to Boston for cancer treatment were killed in a plane crash. The pilot of the single-engine 1956 Beechcraft Bonanza was also killed in the fiery 10:15 a.m. wreck in Easton, Mass., authorities said. The plane, which took off from from Westhampton Beach, L.I., was operated by Angel Flight Northeast, a charity that provides medical transportation for needy patients. The Long Island husband was on his way to the prestigious Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for treatment, the volunteer group said. The names of the victims were not immediately released. "Right now our primary concern is the family," said Angel Flight spokeswoman Amy Camerlin. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family." No one on the ground was injured when the small plane plunged out of the clouds in a nosedive, slammed into a supermarket parking lot and burst into flames. The registered owner of the plane is Janet Keene of Brookfield, Conn., who inherited it and loans it to Angel Flight about once a month, her husband said. He said he knew of no previous problems with the aircraft. just got a chilll today when I heard this keaving work is all. tnmynatt
That's just awful! I hope it doesn't impact future flights. So many patients rely on these flights.
blueeye
Just so sad. There was a little girl in my home town who died in an Angle of Mercy flight recently too.
