GaryG
My CT scan describes it as follows: 3-3.3 cm solid and cystic appearing thyroid nodules; further evaluation including thyroid ultrasound is suggested. I am concerned with the location and especially the size. Anybody with first hand experience can shed more light on these types of nodules in cancer patients? I plan to ask my oncologist when I see him next. Thank you.
Sabacat
Hey Gary - I'm afraid I don't have any firsthand knowledge, but you might find this bit of info from cancer.org (searched on "mixed solid and cystic nodules") somewhat comforting until you can learn more: "Most nodules are cysts filled with fluid or with a stored form of thyroid hormone called colloid. Solid nodules have little fluid or colloid and are more likely to be cancerous. Still, most solid nodules are not cancer." Susan
