Anais Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Hello! I don't know if you remember me, it has been a long time since I've posted. My mother stopped chemo and is on a clinical trial with Iressa (it is still an experimental drug in Canada). She has a skin rash in her face and neck. Has anyone experienced this side effect? Thanks! Don Wood Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Yes, skin rash is a common reaction to Iressa. Don Quote
Ry Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Hi Anais, Of course I remember you. Have your mom try a very rich moisurizing lotion on the (you call that a rash!) rash. I know because it is like acne, you feel you need to dry it or treat it like acne, but it responds better to the opposite. Becky G recommended Udderly Smooth lotion, John uses the St Ives, Whipped Silk. It's not pleasant I know. Hope she is doing well. Rochelle Quote
Anais Posted April 1, 2004 Author Posted April 1, 2004 She just phoned me, the oncologist prescribed her a cortisone-based cream. Thanks for your answer Rochelle... Anaïs Quote
RAY A Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Hi, I am on Irrisa and my onocogist told me that they want to see that rash because it means it is working. Also watch out for the diarea. Quote
Mr Ry Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Anais, Rochelle beat me to posting on this subject. I would like to add that if she has the rash in her hair to use a mild shampoo and a moisturizing conditoner. John Quote
Guest Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Thanks John! Will this rash stop or she will continue getting it until she stops Iressa? At least, it seems less toxic than chemo... Quote
Anais Posted April 2, 2004 Author Posted April 2, 2004 Sorry, last message was from me... I forgot to log in Quote
ginnyde Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Anais, My husband had the rash on his nose and his right index finger peeled. This only happened during the first month. Since then - no rash. Still has the big D and some nausea. Ginny Quote
