  1. Dear Shelly,

I was praying that you would not have to go through this again. I am so saddened by this news. Although punctuated by years instead of months, I too had both parents with a lung cancer diagnosis...even the same cell type as each other. On three seperate occasions I stood by my parent as they were handed this diagnosis. I know the feelings that follow.

I am here if you need someone to lean on (please feel free to contact me) and I will be praying for you and your Dad.

  2. Dear Greg,

I had been thinking of you recently, wondering how you were. I am so sorry for what you are now going through. Sounds like you have researched the available chemos for small cell. I may be wrong but I think I have been reading recently about Iressa for sclc. Also , how about a clinical trial? There are options available...ask your doctor to work on these while you work on easing your breathing in the hospital.

I hope they find the right med for you and that you start to feel better soon. Please tell the docs about the pain so they can help make you comfortable too.

You are in my thoughts and prayers,

    Lynn

  3. Carleen,

There is not much I can write that hasn't already been written. I agree with getting a second opinion ASAP...there is someone out there who will treat Keith and help him fight! Please don't give up now...

    Thinking of you,

    Lynn

  4. Hi Ray,

Tomorrow may be a rough day for you and your family...I pray it passes easier than you think. You will be in my thoughts and prayers throughout the day.

The"firsts" (first birthday, first holiday without your loved one) are so hard. I wish I had something wise to offer...

    God bless,

    Lynn

    Oh Candy,

I don't know what to say...I am so sad for you and your family. Yes, you will get through this very difficult time...there is really no other choice.

You were so kind to me when my Dad was diagnosed, thank you for that. God bless you and your family. If you need me I'm here.

  5. Sam,

NO cancer is great news!! Before my Dad was diagnosed this year I was actually praying that the suspicious areas on the Ct scan were fungus...even though I knew we didn't live in the "right area" for this to be a real possibility.

Well, if my Dad couldn't have the fungus instead of cancer...I'm glad it happened to you. Now, please get rid of that stuff and get better soon!

    Warmest regards,

    Lynn

  6. Dear Flabet,

I am so glad that your husband Doug is feeling stronger. I think not being in discomfort contributes to ones will to fight in a positive way.

I also wanted to let you know that my Dad's close childhood friend (so close I refer to him as my uncle) has a sister with extensive sclc and she is at the 6 year mark!

You and Doug will be remembered in my prayers...please let me know how things are going and contact me if I can help in anyway.

    Regards,

    Lynn

  7. Dear Flabet,

Yes, it is absolutely true! My Dad had 20 years free from cancer before getting it again. I recently read his medical records from 1983 and his tumor was quite large and showed "significant growth" in just 3 weeks!

He had 6 months of chemo with quite an impressive array of drugs. On several occasions his wbc count was barely over 1. He had decided early on that he would fight with everything he had. In fact he once confided in me that although nights were his worst emotional times he REFUSED to allow negative thoughts in. He always was very spiritual and VERY STUBBORN!

He used to visit with other lung cancer patients on his lunch hour to try to lift their spirits and show them that it can be done! I hope this helps please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance at all.Best wishes...I know how painful this is ...I have been there 3 times  but I suppose it would have been worse to only have been there twice

    Warmest regards,

    Lynn

  8. Hello,

Welcome...I can "hear " the concern in your post...You definitely should seek a second opinion &/or see a pulmonary specialist. The odds are in your favor that this is not lung cancer but why play the odds when you can have this addressed!

With special precautions pregnant patients can certainly have Ct scans, and other radiological proceedures safely. If need be the radiologist can confer with your Ob prior to the testing. You and your unborn baby need this concern checked out, waiting until after the baby is born is not ,in my opinion ,advisable.

Good luck please let us know how everything goes.

    Best,

    Lynn
