Hello everyone I finally created an account lol. I'm a 2 1/2 year lung cancer survivor and THERE IS HOPE!!! I've been a part of LUNGevity since my lung cancer journey began and it's a great organization.

I was diagnosed November 20, 2014 with stage 3B NSCLC adenocarcinoma ALK +, I stood positive, held on to the word of God and fought a brave fight and won!! It wasn't easy but it is POSSIBLE through the word of God! I was on Dr. Phil and shared my story, I've traveled and shared my story, I'm a lung cancer advocate and now I'm an owner of my very own crossfit gym. So remember my lung cancer brothers and sisters there is HOPE!!

DON'T EVER GIVE UP!! No matter what they tell you!!

Good morning.  I just wanted to say thank you to all who participate in this forum, whether it's a post, a response, or silent prayers and good thoughts from your home.  I sign on every day to read how others are doing, and to see if I might share experiences to help others.  This sight became my lifeline last spring and it's through this site that I discovered that a recurrence is not the end of the world, but merely a bump in the road.  I think of you all every day, send prayers, and cross fingers and toes for good results.
    Thank you!

    Hi luvs2crossstitch,
I was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in early February, I learnt it was stage 4 on the 28th. I am only 33. I understand what you are feeling. I am currently in residency, studying in Internal Medicine. I have spent my entire life being healthy, no smoking, hardly drinking, working out, studying. I feel like I've focused my whole life on the proper order of things, getting my career, that to have this diagnosed now, I know I am not ready. I am currently in the process of harvesting my eggs, since I have no children, and then i have to start lifelong targeted treatment, I have an ALK mutation, which I've been told is rare, especially in my age group.
If you want feel free to message me, we can go through the stages together

Good morning, Ruthie.  I'm in a holding pattern until my pet scan on March 15th and results on March 16th.  I think I've resigned myself to/made peace with a recurrence.  If it's not, we'll be dancing in the streets.  I am fortunate to have an incredible husband and a very close knit group of friends who are basically sisters.  I know my parents will be in good hands should the worst happen, but I still want to be there.
I have found comfort in an odd place this week.  A dear friend from high school and college was diagnosed with cancer this week and she is overwhelmed as we all were when we were diagnosed.  I've tried to give her information and comfort and help her get through the first few days.  She told me last night that everything I've shared with her this week has been very helpful to her.  Helping her has been a lovely distraction!
So much is out of our hands, isn't it?

Jg_miller got a reaction from Meloni in Ct scan, where can I get feedback/posted 3 times
I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January 2016. Started Opdivo in June after 6 sessions of platinum chemo. Each ct scan has shown no new growth and no new cancer, which is good. My last ct scan showed no growth in the original spot on my lung but did show several new minuscule spots. My oncologist and myself decided to continue the current Opdivo therapy and revaluate with the next ct scan in 7 weeks. Has anyone had this experience with Opdivo and if so, was there improvement when the original treatment was continued or more growth and a switch to a new therapy?

One year ago today, I was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer following a lobectomy of my upper left lung.  The rest of 2016 brought chemo, a second surgery, a second cancer diagnosis, and enough anxiety to power a small city.  But all that matters is I AM ALIVE TODAY.  There are so many cancer patients who don't make it this far and I will not take this for granted.  I have three trips planned this year and get to see my precious niece marry the love of her life in a couple of months.
Now I just have to get through tomorrow's scan results.
