All results are in Gary is cancer free.I am so happy who thought that an almost 10 cm tumor didn't spread even after removing it. We are so lucky now we can plan out trip to Ca. to see are grand kids. Thank you all for your prayers. Next scan will be in June but I am putting that in back of my mind for now. Lorrie

Gray's scans all came out clean except they picked up an area that almost lite up in his thyroid gland. ONC doesn't seem to concerned since Gary did cough about the time the scan reached that area but to be on the safe side Gary will have an ultra sound on Mon.I think this is all good news and even if there is something amiss in is thyroid it was caught early Lorrie

Gary had his first post chemo PET and CT scan tuesday. Tomorrow we will find out the results. I am scared but Gary just wants the results. Would you say a little prayer that we can accept the results and go forward.Thankyou Lorrie

Jodi I know how you feel.Gary is to go for his first post chemo scan next week and I am so scared. He also has tightness in his chest when he breaths and has been to his pulmonary doc twice in as many weeks and he says not to worry it is normal.I don't even know what is normal anymore. I like some posters can't bare to hear certain songs and last night I just told Gary that I was going into the bathroom to take a bath and when I went in I must have cried for an hour. Like others here I stay up for Gary and others but I have no friends here where I live since we moved to this state about 8 mos prior to Gary's Diag and have no one to talk to.When I call my daughter and I bring up something about her dad she changes the subject she could never deal with illness.I am sorry but today is really bad day and I don't want to cry.When Gary comes home from work he will be able to tell and he doesn't have to worry about me either. Please get a second opinion. My husband was diag last may with LC and his tumor was 10cm. Our first doctor said it was also to big and he most likley couldn't operate. We saw another Doc at Moffitt and he said he could operate which he did and gary's stage which was about a 3 a or b at the first doctor turned out to be staged at 1b. PRAYERS lORRIE

That is what Gary did before he went into the hospital and he updates it as needed. We went to the pulmonary doctor today and everything looks good. I think we will keep this one he didn't rush us at all and asked all the right questions. BTW they never asked for the pill bottles only asked us what pills (inhalers) Gary takes. We just gave him the list. He wanted Gary to have a chest X Ray but we told him that Gary will have his pet and ct scan March 6th and we would have our ONC send a copy to him. He told us the tightness in Gsry's chest was due to his asthma and the healing process and since Gary is no longer getting the massive dose of steriods that he got from Chemo it is more noticable. He really took his time listening to Gary's chest back and front and I feel he did a better job then our other doctors.He also did a breathing test and next month he will do a more extensive breathing test. That is what we have always done infact we have a list already for any future doctor visits That was good enough for the surgeon. Oh well we can't fight the system.It just makes my 63 year old husband feel 10 years older. Lorrie

Gary went to our primary Doc today and told him about the tightness in his chest and how he is short of breath. The doc told him that the tightness was due to inflamation of the rib cage due to the surgery and he said does it feel tighter when you press on it and Gary said it did. He said that was to be expected and the steriods masked the thightness but he is only our primary. Gary told me not to mention anything about any heart problems that it might be so I kept my mouth shut. Gary will be going to a new pulmonary doc monday because the other one he had was very dismisive.We will see what he has to say. I also might bring up the heart issue because I do worry about that also.We got the paper work for the new doc a few days ago and they require that we bring in all Gary's pill bottles. I have never heard of this and I wonder if any of you have had to do this. Gary said it makes him feel like an old man not to be trusted.When he called them about this all they said the doc had to check to see if he is taking the right meds. We have been there before and we have been told to switch meds and Gary a few weeks later ends up in the ER with a bad Asthma attack. Our ONC does highly recommend this doctor and I did get the feeling that he didn't think much of the old one that Gary was going to.I am rambleing sorry and thank you. Wow. But would this be constent. The same thing happened when he stoped Chemo when he had a week off. He has told the doctor and he says that is to be expected. I will have gary call the doctor and we are seeing the primary Friday. I will also bring it up. Gee I never though of that and he is at work right now. Thankyou lorrie

Gary has tightness in his chest. I asked him where and he pointed to his breast bone area right in the middle of chest area. He said it is not like he feels with his asthma but he said he is short of breath. Whenever he hasn't had Chemo for a few weeks he gets this way. I blame it on lack of steroids but I am not a doctor He is going to a new pulmonary doctor Monday since the old one when this first happened a few months ago just said get use to it without a why. Our Onc recommended this new doc because Gary will need a pulmonary doc anyway as a partner with his ONC. I am just worried that when they took out Gary's top right lobe they also had to resection his bronchi tube and rewrap it with fat. Could something be wrong with that resection? To me this makes sense but the doctors have said they see nothing wrong with the resection. Has anyone on this board had the same feeling that Gary has? Lorrie

Wow evryone feels just about the same way Gary and I do. Today we both feel like the old us HAPPY. Gary went to work in such a great mood (maybe because the side effects of his Chemo is gone). And I just woke up happy. That hasn't happened in a long time. It really feels great.I must remember this feeling.Gee even the dogs seem different. Prayers and love to all Lorrie

I wrote on another message board about Gary's chemo being over and how we can lead a normal life for two months and she posted how we all most feel.I don't think she will mind if I quote her. "Gosh, there are so many people living the exact same lives - never thought too much about it until now. We are now living from test to test too. After one test, I relax and don't think about it again (negatively) until time for the next one." I do believe we all can put more love and fun between these dreaded tests then we have ever done before. We all can live in the present and not worry about the future. Garys first pet and CT scan will be March 7th but I will worry about that on the 6th. BTW Gry's hair has started to grow. He has baby fuzz Lorrie

Today was Gary's last day of Chemo.The ONC doesn't want to see him for two months then he will have a pet scan and a ct scan. Blood work will be every month. We will have a normal life for two months. Gary's hair started to grow back also. Lorrie

You said what I feel also but can't achieve.This xmas I didn't want to go overboard but Gary did. I had to go along. We need the family around us at this time but to do this we have to pay for their airfare or we would not see our daughter and family. It is so hard to balance money,family but it is so easy to love each other like you said today and live for tomorrow. I think so much about money now and it seems like we are spending more but to say no we can't do this at this time would make my husband feel like there is no hope.So many feelings I have about it seems everything and no one to talk to except this wonderful board. I want to turn back the clock to 42 years ago and re start our journey as man and wife.I never felt that way before LC struck. Lorrie

what great news Sharon. Gary will have his last treatment next Friday and his first scan should be in a few weeks. Reading your post gives us hope for a good result also. Lorrie

Gary has had Chemo Brain since his 4th treatment. We were just talking about that today at the infusion room with his nurse.Don't worry about it infact it can work in your favor. If you buy something that you don't want him to know about and when he sees it all you have to say is I told you about it a few weeks ago.LOL Lorrie

Hi Jenny My husband had a tumor that was 10cm. He had his upper right lungs lobe removed and the surgeon says he got it all. I don't think size is an issue rather where the tumor is located in the lung is and if the cancer has spread out side of the lung. Also if the lymph nodes are involved Lorrie

I want to thank you all for encouraging Gary regarding his shortness of breath. I read him your posts and he is grateful to all of you. We went to the ONC yesterday and he gave Gary prednizone so that should help untill Chemo starts again. Merry Christmas Lorrie

Gary was on his way to work this am and I called him to let him know that the pool cover that he put on last night so the pool would maintaine a high temp when Grandkids come for Xmas(it is in the 40's this am) I told him that some water was on top of the pool. He got very upset and I told him I should have helped him more last night. He said he just couldn't make it any straighter he ran out of steam. I told him from what I read on this board it is common and I do tell him what I read every day. He is worried that something else is wrong but he has had Asthma all of his life and uses a few inhalers and pill form meds as well as the nebulizer sp. He also has not had Chemo for two weeks and so he hasn't had the steriods that he gets when he is on Chemo. Gary does so much more then most men his age do but he wants to have the same breathing that he had prior to his surgery this July. I told him we have to use our treadmill and he saig (i forget his exact words ) but he doesn't feel the way he feels like he is doing OK. I have told him that on this board I have read everyone has problems breathing for a while and I told him to write on this board he told me no I do a good job but if you all could just post what you have been through I will have him read it. I thank you so much and I will help others when I can. I will have this board forever on my favorite place. Lorrie
