  1. Joanie,

Henk had the same problems last year. He had these recurrent fevers for several months. Docs weren't concerned and it was only after several visits that his blood etc. was tested: he had pneumonia!

So, yes, like others have already said: demand a blood test. It isn't 'normal' to have recurrent fevers.

  2. Don,

When Henk had his scans 6 month after radiations, the tumor seemed big and bright. His docs were concerned.

However, the 'bright tumor' shrunk over the following months and is almost gone now (12 months after radiation)!

So, I guess it is unusual but not impossible that the tumor is still large and bright from dying.

  3. When Henk was dxd, his docs told him that the tumor must have been visible on the X-rays that Henk had the year before in another hospital.

We spent a couple of days being very frustrated about that. Didn't help us one bit, of course. But I do understand your anger!

  4. I don't know exactly how to explain this in English, but I'll try.

Henk loves to hunt. Last year, he couldn't hunt b/c of the treatments, but now he feels well enough to hunt.

However, when shooting, his gun backfires (presses) against his left shoulder, at the exact place where the tumor is (or was?) located.

I'm worried about the effect that the severe pressure will have on the tumor.

    Any thoughts about this?

    Ellen.

  5. It's a long time ago I gave an update on Henk b/c there seemed to be nothing to tell.

Chemo and radiation being over (in February), his docs (a team) advised him to 'wait and see'. There was (and is) still 'something' visible on the scans, but the docs don't know what this is. Could be active tumor or dead tumor or scar tissue.

However, a couple of weeks ago Henk visited his primary doc b/c of some flu-like symptoms. The primary ordered X-rays. The comment on these X-rays (seen by a pulmonogist and a radiologist) was 'that the (left) lung is well cured from the tumor'.

We don't know what this means, but we think this is good news?!?

  6. Cindi, this sounds okay but... how is the weather in Ohio? Is it cold in winter and warm in the summer? What is the country like, do you have mountains? Forgive me my ignorance, I haven't the faintest idea about Ohio. But I hope you will make a lot of new friends and be very happy there!

    Ellen.
