My coworkers mother was just dx with lung cancer I don't know the stage she is almost eighty years old the docs gave her six-nine months w/o treatment or up to two years with treatment which I dont agree with. How should I introduce Wayne my coworker to this site he is pretty depressed.Any help would be greatly appreciated, and btw I really wish everyone a happy new year. Rob

My friend is an oncologist sales rep for sanofi-aventis in central and north jersey she has morristown memorial, sloan kettering outpatient in basking ridge nj, robert wood johnson, umdnj, and beth isreal. According to her the majority of the oncologists that she deals with are very concerned with the amount of lung cancer that is diagnosed amongst people especially women in the 44-65 year old age group that have never smoked before. I would assume that this means that the environment we live in has alot of determnation in what diseases we encounter in diffeent parts of the country. Rob

Hi Robin, I have my first ct scan on wednesday of course I am nervous and scared but I really can't worry to much the spot on my lung could very well be scar tissue it doesn't take much to cause scar tissue on a lung a bad cold, the flu, a bad cough. Anyhow I know that it is hard waiting just try to find something that you enjoy doing to relax until you get the facts. Anyhow I wish you the best and am sending alot of positive thoughts and prayers your way. Rob

I'm just nervous my ct scan is upcoming on wednesday I agree that if my doctor really felt it urgent he wouldn't have waited a week to get my blood test results back which were all good and would have asked me to get a ct scan immediately instead of within the month. For today and toomrrow I will enjoy being in ft lauderdale with my girlfriend and parents. Anyhow thanks everyone for all of your support it really does mean alot. Rob

Please get another opinion I do not know where you live I know that there are oncologists out there with superior bedside manners compared to what you have.My friends mother who has lung cancer has very good results and really trusts the oncology department at morristown memorial in morristown nj, they have two teams of oncologists bothe teams are highly respected. Hi I just wanted to thank everyone for their support I know I must seem like a real wimp complaining about a ct scan I am just worried about the potential results I suspect that I will be fine. Hi I have my first ct scan coming up next wednesday I have not smoked in over a year xray showed a mass upper right lobe old xray from seven years ago shows same mass but much less pronounced dr thinks I am ok call me a wimp but I'm still nervous about what may be found with a ct scan. I think I am scared because my best friends mother has lung cancer she is doing ok after three years from diagnosis I also have a friend who just passed away from liver cancer fourteen days from diagnosis to death anyhow I'm just scared and I really have to give everyone on this forum credit for dealing with this disease if any one wants someone to talk with I'm here for you.
