  1. Oh my dear friend Patti. I am so so sorry. Losing my hair again would be freaking me out too. Once is quite enough. I really don't know what else to say right now other than you are always in my prayers. I know you will go into this radiation in the right frame of mind although we all wish you didn't have to go through it. Lots and lots of love and prayers

  2. Hi Susan. I am sorry to hear of the latest with your dear mom. I had a pleural effusion at diagnosis and was very nervous about the procedure. In hindsight it really wasn't that bad compared to other things I have gone through. It was done under local anesthetic and was not painful. After the draining is done you just need to be careful to keep the site dry. Best wishes for your mom

  3. hey there. I am sorry to read of your breathing struggles. I have sob as well but not as bad as you. The suggestion of going to cancergrace.org is a good one. It can be the treatments you are receiving as well that are giving you sob. I hope you find some answers and can remain as independent as possible. I know how hard this can be with young kids involved and my heart is with you.

  4. Hi everyone.

Sorry about your rough night Judy and your worries over having chemo in a new place. I would be nervous as well, but I am sure all will be ok.

    Your weekend sounds great Ann.

Our summer weather has returned...hot, hot, hot! Will maybe take the kids to the beach this afternoon.

    Happy Friday everyone!

  5. Hi Maddie and welcome to this site. I don't have BAC but hopefully others will come along soon.

So sorry for your need to be here but you will find it a great place of support and information if you stick around. Please keep us posted on how you are doing, we care here and have walked in your shoes.

  6. Hi there. I am sorry to read about your dear mom. I am glad that you have found this site and that it has been helpful to you. It has been a godsend for me and my journey. I was also stage 3b at diagnosis. My advice would be to make sure she drinks lots during her treatments. Even if she doesn't feel like eating. Keeping hydrated is so important during chemo. Also, please take precautionary measures (senokot) for constipation. It really is awful and can be avoided.

I am sending prayers that your mom's treatments are successful. Please keep us posted.

  7. May we remain strong for sure Barb. I am so sorry about the latest news. We have had too much bad news here lately.

As always I am sending my prayers for you and Bill. Hoping and praying hard that taxotere does it's job.

This is such a difficult journey. Thank goodness we have this site and all our friends here to hold us up during hard times.

    Take good care

  8. Thanks for posting your good news hear Annette. We needed it! Best wishes on your next surgery. After that though, I would still hold the chemo discussion. Some here have done it for preventative purposes, like a bit of insurance. In the meantime just rest up and take care of yourself in prep for your surgery.

  9. Oh Patti, I am just torn apart with your news. My apologies for chiming in late but I wasn't on the board yesterday. I have been thinking of you.

My doc asked me if I wanted to try Navalbine or just "stop" as well. And she asked me what I was hoping to achieve from that. I said to achieve "stable". It was a very short conversation but one that really does have an impact on you. So I know very well how you must have felt. But you and I know there is always hope. I figure if I am not suffering too badly from side effects then there is no question about continuing on with treatment.

I have many prayers for you my friend and for Nick as well. I agree with you, this is most unfair to our kids. You will meet your goal of seeing Nick graduate and you will surpass that. Because we all know you won't give up. You are truly an inspiration.

    Your friend

  10. Hi Kathi and welcome to this site. I am sorry you need to be here but it is a great place for information and support. I am currently on navalbine, 2 weeks on and 1 week off for 4 cycles and then a scan to see if it is working. It seems that there are many different chemo regimens even with the same drug and the dosage is probably different as well. And I am sure there are reasons for the differences as well as success with all. You should go to cancergrace and ask your question to Dr. West.

Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing. If you are not doing well we are here to help you along. We have all had our down periods. Take care

  11. Good morning everyone.

Hey there Judy in Bucktail Family Fun Park Camping Resort. Glad you found some fun people to talk to. You can make fun anywhere girl. Get some rest now. And those meatballs sure sound good, I haven't had home made meatballs in years. I can just about smell them!

Geesh Anne. Sounds like you need a rest too. You are one busy lady and it sounds like your evening will be busy as well. Have fun with the grandkids.

I am feeling much better today. Had a bad "pain" day yesterday. I am possibly going to be participating in a clinical trial re pain mgmt. I am in the screening phase right now which involves phoning in every night and answering various questions about my pain during the day. I hope I get in and that I don't get the placebo as I am willing to try anything.

I am hanging out at home today and off for a Zometa treatment later. My son is at his camp this morning. My teenage daughter is showing stronger teenage tendencies and is off to the mall with her possy of friends. I did manage to go shopping with her on Monday though. She still needs mom for some things.

It rained her all night and we need it. We were going to go to a ball game last night but the rain prevented that. Oh well, I wasn't feeling that great anyways so we rented a movie instead.

Hope everyone has a great day.

    Sandra

  12. Hi all. Yes Judy, me and many others are very grateful for your dutiful attention to the "air".

It is overcast here today as well although no rain yet. I managed to get up and get my son safely to his camp this morning....in my PJ's of course! Wish me luck again tomorrow.

    Have a great evening everyone.

    Sandra
