Thanks for your support everyone. This is the 3rd day after my infusion and I still feel pretty good.
Barb, I don't have a port. I told one of the chemo nurses that the infusion was stinging at the insertion site about halfway through the infusion. I thought at the time that the stinging just was an indication that the drip was too fast. The nurse said yes. I told her that i would rather put up with a little stinging than slow down the infusion. She said ok. Later, near the end of the infusion, I asked another chemo nurse if the stinging was an indication that it could be damaging a vein. she said that i should let them know right away if it stung because it is also an indication that it is going into the muscle tissue instead of the vein. i don't know why the first nurse did not mention that possibility.
A third chemo nurse was the one who did the insertion. He placed it at the edge of my hand where there tends to be more muscle movement instead of at the top, along the plane of my hand. it must have slipped out of the vein at least partially later.
I think I got most of the infusion in my vein though. I do have some constipation from it. and had some fatigue yesterday for a while. My wife thinks I should ask for discount on the first infusion. i don't think the chemo shop is like Wal-Mart though.

Chris; the biopsy does not makes sense to me. I hope Jerry goes for the drainage procedure. You all have my prayers.

I started taxotere yesterday. About 20% of it ended up in my muscle tissue instead of my vein and I had to go home with a fat arm and put ice packs on it. The swelling is down quite a bit now. They said I still got enough benefit from the chemo.

Deb: I understand. There may come a point for me that I will stop treatment and take what quality I can get for the rest of my time. I have talked with my wife about it and also have consulted with Dr. West about it. I still remain hopeful though.

I guess I will keep on taking my antioxidants. I have been doing it for over 4 years now. And, my oncologist does not care if I do.

I hope tomorrow is a better day for you Denise. I went on antidepressants last January and I am convinced they have helped me. I take 20 mg of lexapro a day.

I don't care if being positive helps me fight cancer or not. It makes me feel good and that is all I care about. Anyway, I wonder how "being positive" can be measured in a scientific analysis with control and experimental groups. Being positive is such a subjective thing. how is it measured?

I hope the pain goes away soon Sandra and that you can get back to exercising. I had some lower back and hip pain which I attribute to heavy lifting. It hurt for a few days but is mostly gone now. I think it it were mets it would keep on hurting. I put off my walking for a few days until it got better. I can go on a walk today.

Nancy: I hope you get better results with your next treatment. Stable is good, but maybe they are concerned about the side effects outweighing the benefit of stability at this point.
