ask your onc to lay the red carpet out to the pain management specialist

I should imagine the onc should be able to bump you up in line so you could get this taken care of. there is no reason you should be in the ER with Docs that are not familiar with you. As a matter of fact i would imagine your onc could get you in there STAT.

what a difference a specialist makes

I have been seeing a pain management specialist since one month post op to magage missmanaged pain from my operation. she has done wonders to help me thru it all and very understanding

lets hope they can help you. if ya can call the office every day and see if they have a cancelation see if they can bump you up. can hurt to ask

at least that way they will know you when y ou show up. maybe even have them post the paper work and get that out of the way. cant hurt to try good luck

  3. just wanted to let you all know i am done with the chemo treatments for now. i am scheduled for a ct in august and God willing it will be clear. I am beginning to feel better every day. boy does it feel good!!!!I am so glad to post good news!!!!Luv & light to all

  4. my first week was the worst week

yours seams more intense than mine

it does get better but the only advise i can give is

write all your symptoms down to tell your onc

take the meds even if you feel better

    and drink plenty of water

eat whatever and whenever you want

    rest

  5. I am so sorry to hear your dad is having a rough time

I too had some major pain management problem right out of the OR :(

creaps wouldnt beleave me when I said i was feeling pain!!!HELLO whos body is this anyway!!!! only advise I can give is dont let the nurse leave unless she/he takes care of the problem. They have to follow certain proticol to get things done but it is doable you just cant give in. if they leave and say they will be right back keep pushing the panic button. bug them until they take care of your problem. Let them know you will bug them all night/day in a nice way untill your problem is taken care of.

My pain management nightmare is a whole other story for another time

as for the morphine, with major surgery like this if it works and dosnt make you violently sick take it. if it works and only causes mild nausea and you can take anti nausea meds take it. however if you want to go home quicker you need to get off the drip meds and on the oral meds TAKE THE MEDS. you will feel better and be up and moving around sooner which will make you feel better which will make your family and nurses feel better which makes every one feel better so feel better!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  6. boy do I feel better after reading all your posts

I thought it was only me that couldnt shake the fatigue syndrom

some days if I over do it it takes me 2 days to recover

    glad to hear its normal

if there is such a thing as normal

still gotta take it day by day

  8. I had major pain management problems right from the recovery room from muscle spasams and nerve damage. I have never in all my life experience so much pain. as others have said it can take a long time to recover and the nerve recovery is constantly changing. I my self took the advice of one of the resendent docs upon discharge to see a pain management specialist. she has been the best help. she explained the entire surgery process and what your muscles and nerves have gone thru. it is no wonder we all hurt so much . some hurt more than others. she put me on zonegran. this medication is taken at night and aparently is good for getting the nerves to repair themselves faster. I am not taking as much of the pain meds now but do take them occasionaly when i am really uncomfortable (like yesterday)the pain manag specialist said it could take up to a year for it all to go away even on the meds.. what i can say for sure is my pain management team in the hospital for surgery let me down big time.

  9. I say we all meet in DC and show the world we are a force to be recond with! we could have our own convention on the elipse with the washington monument and the white house as back drops invite the press and show cure mag we need more print space!!!!!after all isn't lung cancer the biggest killer, more than brest cancer & prostate cancer combined. so why do we get the least amount of print space? wear your bald heads with pride, paint your posters and ride your wheel chairs but hey lets get people to stop feeling sorry for us and start supporting us!!!!POWER TO THE PEOPLE :D

  10. so sorry to hear of your pain. I can somewhat relate. after my surgery I had such excruciating pain, only trouble was the docs didnt listen and said "oh thats so Rair" sent me home but i only returned 5 hrs later with worse pain  couldnt speak let alone cry  I pray this gets sorted out for you sooner than later. I was not pain free for 10 weeks after my surgery. sure it got better but it was that nagging pain that never went away. every day I would cry & pray for it to go away. One thing that did help was I went to see a pain management specialist about 3 weeks after surgery. She has been a tremendous help. ask your anesteseologist (sp) if they can recomend someone. when it comes to pain you'll try anything for releif good luck..............ann
