janetg
Hi - While we don't have final results from Ron's MRI there is a suspicious thickening of the left adrenal gland that was visualized on the cat scan. I don't want to put the cart before the horse but I think that if I have some knowledge prior to the consult I can be more prepared to ask the right questions or digest the information if I more informed. What generally is the protocol when mets to the adrenal gland are found. Chemo? Radiation? Removal? Wait and Watch? I know that many of you have had adrenal gland mets so I'd love to here how it was handled. If anyone can help me out with this, I'd be grateful. Thanks, Janetg
shineladysue
Hi Janet, My husband, Mike, has a tumor on the left adrenal gland. I asked the same question, that you are, about the treatment. The oncologist explained that because the Lung cancer is the primary tumor, the mets are treated in the same way. In his case, it is with chemotherapy. There is no separate treatment. Don't confuse adrenal gland cancer with mets to the adrenal gland. It is not the same case scenario, as I understand. Maybe others can come along and explain this with more understanding than I have. You also might want to put this in the Ask the Experts section. My best to you. sue
john
In some instances a solitary adrenal met can be removed by surgery. Talk to the Dr. It probably depends on many factors: Is there N2 Lymph node involvement? and other questions. http://ats.ctsnetjournals.org/cgi/conte ... t/71/3/981 http://www.ngc.gov/summary/summary.aspx?doc_id=3650 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/quer ... t=Abstract http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/248/5/581 http://ats.ctsnetjournals.org/cgi/conte ... t/65/2/
Hebbie
Hi Janet -- while I do not have any information on adrenal gland mets personally, "Ray A.", a long time member here posted several entries regarding his adrenal met treatment. I will try to attach a few of the links here for you, as you may find it helpful. http://lchelp.com/community/viewtopic.p ... ght=#95906 http://lchelp.com/community/viewtopic.p ... ht=#102662
