Guest Jonathan
Has anyone had significant tumor shrinkage from iressa? How long?
tutzi
Hi Jonathan. I asked my oncologist about trying Iressa. He said OK if you want, I can give you the prescription. However, it's only been effective in 2% of the cases tried for lung cancer. There was one type that had a response. I can check on that if you like; but I know it wasn't NSCLC, squamous, which I have. I'd be interested to know if anyone here has had a positive response. Fay A.
I did when I first started on it, but there is a Bronchioloalveolar Carcinoma (BAC) component to my tumors. However, there are people who have Adenocarcinoma without BAC features who also had responses to Iressa and Tarceva. Fay A.
Ry
Hi Jonathon, So far the Iressa is working for my husband. From what I have read, it works approximately 20% of the time but it is not a cure. Our oncologist said that we would watch for the point where it was no longer effective and switch to something else. His tumor has gone from 4.1 to 3cm since the start of Iressa (would give you the date but I am at work and can't remember the start date). At his last check up, the doctor said his lungs sounded much clearer. He feels well except still gets tired.
kimblanchard
Jonathan, There are many people on the following list on the web who are currently on Iressa with much success. It is a good group of people as a resource for those of you on Iressa or considering it.
