palm Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 Just got results of CT scans, MRI and PET yesterday, and not so good news. Several small spots on left lung, spine, ribs and a large one on right femur. I will be starting a clinical trial tomorrow with epirubican and irinotecan. Has anyone ever used these and if so with what results. I was diagnosed with sclc limited August 04 Had cistplatin and VP16 for four rounds and radiation to left lung, successfully resolved lung tumor at that time, but now it is back. I am desperate for an answer. Quote
john Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 Irinotecan is also called CPT-11 or camptosar There was a study in Japan that seem to indicate that CPT-11/cisplatin was better than etoposide/cisplatin but a study in the US shows about the same results for the different combinations of chemo. The researchers think that genetic difference in the Japanese have better results with CPT-11/cisplatin Epirubicin may have effects on the heart. You might want to ask the Dr about this It looks like this is a phase I or II trial http://www.asco.org/ac/1,1003,_12-00263 ... 011,00.asp Quote

Cindy RN Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 I had the camptosar with the cisplatin as a first line drug combo back in 2001. I am still here. I had VERY good results from it. Good Luck, Cindy Quote
