wondermom Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 My mom just met with a neurologist today and he gave her a choice of more radiation to her remaining brain met or surgery. She chose to have surgery. I wasn't there so I am not sure of the reasoning and my mom doesn't ask a lot of quesions. I know the doc said something about it being hard on the brain to keep doing radiation and since the tumor is close to the surface he thought surgery would be a good choice. She has already had WBR. He also said there could be a slight chance it would be an infection and not a tumor. What are the odds of that? I also e-mailed Dr. West but I wanted to hear from people who had this surgery too. I am very nervous about such an invasive procedure. Quote
mamasbabygirl Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 What kind of surgery? For instance, my mom had stereotactic "radiosurgery" and also a full craniotomy. Find out which it is and let me/us know and I know I can definitely help with either. Quote
wondermom Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 I guess I don't know what they called it as I wasn't there but originally they were going to do the radiation surgery like the stereostatic you mentioned but this is surgery where they put you under and cut. Thanks! Quote
