tnmynatt
This morning gas was $3.57 - $3.69 Now most stations are $4.499. Some are still at $3.99, but have run out of regular unleaded. I'm so disgusted! I have a long commute to work.... What are the gas prices doing in your area?

lilyjohn
I haven't been out sense Ike but I have a feeling they are rising fast. Wednesday I paid 3.79 and was sure glad to see that price after paying $4 plus for so long but knew it wouldn't last.

Flyman35
$4.39 was the highest I saw in Palatine today. I went over to the next county for gas which is only about 3 miles and paid $4.05. It is absolutely ridiculous. Denise

Muriel
So far, I've been afraid to look. I'm wondering if this is going to be a temporary problem or a long term one - i.e., should I wait till my gas tank is down to 1/4 full or should I run out now before prices go up again? lilyjohn
Well I haven't filled up in months. My SS doesn't allow for too many frills and driving mroe than I need to with these prices is something I have to look at as a frill. I did put $30 in my tank when I got my check Wednesday. I was sure glad that I did. I did decide to go out for awhile today and was surprised to see that here, where the prices seemed to go up 5 or 10 cents for no appearant reason , they hadn't gone up at all. Maybe that is because an average of $3.80 is already so outragously high!
tnmynatt
Still $4.99 here...the highest in the lower 48 states! Outrageous!!!
recce101
We're at about 4.40 for regular this week, no significant change from what it's been the past couple of months -- averaging 4.30 to 4.50 for regular. The hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico didn't seem to affect our prices, since we have a couple of refineries here and don't depend on those near Houston. The big variable is the price of crude oil, which is shipped in. Aloha, Ned
Muriel
A couple weeks ago, gas was $3.55, $3.65, and $3.83. Today it's $3.69, $3.79, and $3.89. Muriel
lilyjohn
I had to go out today and I saw that the price actually dropped here. I think it may be because Calirornia doesn't depend as much on Texas and Louisiana refineries. We have our own. No Matter what the reason I sure hope it keeps going down.
