barbvh Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Just returned from becoming a participant is a research study about the benefits of yoga for NSCLC cancer patients & survivors, stages 1 - 3. It's about a 3 month study that will analyze our blood oxygen, cortisol levels, stress, increased deep breathing, etc. A researcher at Wayne State University is conducting the study. Quote

blaze100 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Congratulations Barb. Yoga is great for keeping your shoulder flexible, and the breathing is so good for the immune system. Was it Hatha yoga? I've been yoga-ing on and off for 9 years now since I was dx'd. I will be interested in what the study finds too. Nameste, Barb Quote
barbvh Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 Hi Barb, I believe it is a form of Vinyasa, but some of it will be specifically tailored to each individual if needed. Example, if you could only do chair yoga, they will accomodate. I have been doing some form of yoga most of the time since the early 90's. I KNOW that I am more flexible when I do and that if has helped my deep breathing since my surgery. I'll keep everyone posted as this goes forward. Namaste, BarbVH Quote
