Joppette
Wow Eric. So rich in history, but so mysterious to me. So much I do not know about your culture. First off, who is the gorgeous brunette girl that shows up in many pictures. Am guessing that is your daughter? She is so pretty! I notice lots of folks carrying or wearing extra coats/sweaters, must be layering is a normal thing there? This time of year we start to do that too. But so many questions. Would love a commentary on some of the more strange pictures. Like the "live" statues. At least I assume those were live people acting like statues. Why for? Anyway, I could spend all day looking at these. Guess we'll just have to get over there and see for ourselves. Judy in MI
eric byrne
Hi Judy, Thanks for your much appreciated comments,it is my intention to entertain you in sending these in,sorry about the lack of introductory explainations along with the photos, with Chris not being here that was a task too much for my ability level.Yes that is my daughter, you can google her website by just typing in Jennifer Byrne shes the actress from Glasgow. The photos taken in the dungeons shows the hammocks that were used by the French prisoners that were imprisoned here during the Napoleonic Wars at the start of the nineteenth century, the order of the pics are basically the reverse of the order they were taken in,we are supposed to start by walking into the castle, rather than gradually walking out,I dont know why the process of sending in pics should do this? Oh the statue people are very common here in Scotland,it is usually a type of street begging, although some do it for charities.Braveheart was doing his performance for cancer research. If any viewers would like a description or explaination of any of the photos, please let me know,I am only too happy to oblige. ts
I was wondering if this was part of the Fringe Festival, and there it was - a banner saying just that! I had some clients about 10 years ago who were performing in that. My mind fails to recall the name of the play or the players. I love how places east of the Atlantic are so different from the US especially the western US. It's a rare structure here built of stone. dianew
Eric - thanks so much for sharing. I so love history and although I'd love to go see all of this myself, I enjoyed looking at the photos. I especially love the old buildings. American just doesn't have anything quite like that. Any commentary you can give is fascinating. Your daughter is beautiful. Thanks again, Diane
eric byrne
Sorry Guys, Since I sent the photos in,something has happened to the images,in that they now appear cropped and have lost approx one third off the right hand side, this makes for example the tight-rope walker disapear, making the pic look silly, maybe something can be done by the sitemaster to restore the images to their original size?
