Guest DaveG
I am working the 3rd Annual Golf Outing. Last year and the year before I called it "Sarge's Golf Outing for Lung Cancer". This year it is the 3RD ANNUAL LUNG CANCER MEMORIAL GOLF OUTING. If anyone is interested in playing, or making a contribution, please send me your address, and phone number dgrant@merr.com The date of the outing is July 16, 2004 at the Baraboo Country Club, Baraboo WI. This is a 501© event and the funds raised are for the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center for Lung Cancer Research under the direction of Dr. Joan Schiller. Baraboo, WI is located approximately 45 miles north of Madison, the capital of Wisconsin. Baraboo is located in the heart of what is known as the Baraboo Range, a range of bluffs created by the Ice Age. Devils Lake State Park is located just 2 miles to the south of Baraboo. The interesting thing of Devils Lake is that the source of water has yet to be discovered. It is a clear fresh water lake with a mean temperature of 55 dgrees. It is open for swimming, boating, canoeing, and fishing (no power boats allowed). The size of the lake is approximately 1-1/2 miles long, and 3/4 of a mile wide. Baraboo is also located 12 miles south of the Wisconsin Dells, one of the largest tourist attractions in the Midwest. Baraboo is famous for being the home of the Ringling Brothers of Circus fame. In honor of that, the World Renown Circus World Museum is located in Baraboo, at the sight of what used to be the winter quarters for the Ringling Brothers Circus before they moved to Sarasota, Florida. The Ho-Chunk Indian casino is located just 5 miles north of Baraboo on US Highway 12. This casino is the largest of its kind in the Midwest. (for anyone's information, I will be forwarding this post to the Baraboo Chamber of Commerce). More information can be obtained at http://www.baraboo.com The important thing, come to Baraboo and participate in a worthy event to raise money for lung cancer research. If you don't play golf, I also need volunteers to work on the day of the event. This will be a 4 person scramble format, with a few wrinkles thrown in to make it fun and interesting. There will a pig roast after the event. and a silent auction as awards are handed out for winners in the golf event. The dinner is included in the entry fee. Refreshments and lunch, on your own. Entries are limited to the first 160 golfers (40 teams) to register with paid entries.
