Hey can anyone tell me if they had these problems? My mom's feet are swelling, and they are numb. Does anyone know why that would be? I dont know if it is from the previous chemo or the Iressa or maybe neither?? Other than that she is doing good on Iressa. She does take blood pressure medicine which they have cut down on and given her an extra lasix which is a diuretic. Her feet are still numb and legs and feet swollen.

Thanks for any input!

Gayle

I don't have any medical answers for you. I just want you and your mom to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and hopes for answers and relief.

Gayle,

I would certainly think that these symptoms warrant a call to the doctor asap.

Gayle,

I know that every time I see my onc. he checks my feet and ankles for swelling. I finally asked what they are checking for and he said it could be a sign of blood clots.

Call the dr. for peace of mind.....

Gayle,

Call your mom's doctor. My mom's legs and feet swelled (are your mom's tender to the touch??) and it was due to blood clots. You want to catch these early, they are pretty common with lung cancer. Usually they will do an ultrasound to check if there are any present. Hope your mom is feeling better soon.

Not only did my husband have blood clots (they inserted a filter to take care of these), he also had over 2 liters of fluid taken from his lungs. He had major swelling throughout his body.

I pray they find out what is causing the problem.

Blessings to you,

Gayle,

I'm afraid I, too, do not have nay answers for you--but my thoughts are with you and your mom.

My fiancee's mother mentioned yeaterday that her ankles were swelling--and thanks to all the responses to your post--I have been able to pass information along to my fiancee and his parents to make sure they make the onc. aware of it. We thought she had just been on her feet a lot that day (which, may very well be the case).

Hang in there,

Melinda

Thanks guys! You are all so kind. I will call my mom's doctor tomorrow and see what he says. Blood clots are exactly what I was worrying about.

Thinking of all of you with love,

Gayle
