Rachel
Just a quick question. I hear many of you refer to Iressa. Is this a maintenance drug? I haven't had much luck finding info on the web. Perhaps just not putting in enough info. I would appreciate any info on this or a site link. Thanks much. Rachel
dadstimeon
Hi Rachael, I was put on Iressa for maintenance. Have had great (remarkable) success with it, see my signature. Here are some sites about Iressa. Hope this helps. Peace, take care and God Bless. john
I don't *think* Iressa would work very well with SCLC The article below also has a typo - Bronchioalveolar carcinoma is not SCLC March 18, 2004 Email This Article Printer-Friendly Version CANCER DRUG IRESSA HELPS ONLY SOME PATIENTS A recent study has discovered that the highly sought-after drug Iressa only benefits patients who have a rare type of lung cancer called bronchioalveolar carcinoma, a form of small-cell lung cancer usually not associated with smoking. Researchers have yet to determine the reason for the drug’s limited effectiveness in other lung cancer patients. Iressa is one of a burgeoning class of cancer drugs known as “targeted therapy.” Unlike conventional chemotherapy, targeted medications focus on specific cellular receptors, sites that stud the surface of cancer cells. In theory, once the drug latches on to a receptor, it is capable of shutting down tumor growth and proliferation.

dadstimeon
Hi Elaine, I do have BAC (if Iressa works) and yes it also helps people who do not have BAC. I believe it is used for people who have different types of NSCLC. Take care. Rich Just wondering.
