Steve has just finished round 4 of 6 chemos. He met with a radiologist for the first time today. So in about a month when he's finished chemo., he'll be starting 10 rounds of radiation.

To me this is great news, even though introducing another therapy is a little frightening, I just keep in mind that it's one more weapon we have to fight SCLC.

Chris,

That is good news. I know the treatments can be scary, but it's actually more scary when they are done and your not doing anything to actively fight. My husband had chemo and radiation at the same time and came through it with flying colors. Hope things go as well for you.

That truely IS great news. My dad's onc. hasn't even considered radiation. Says because my dad's sclc is extensive and mets to liver that he is NOT a candidate for radiation. He says that he only recommends radiation for pain control. Yet, in your situation they are going to do it! I would take radiation for my dad if it was an option. You guys DO have another weapon against this disease!! Will be praying for you both

Thanks everyone! It is so great to be able to share the good and the bad with people who really understand. KatieB: FYI--Radiation was discussed as an option from the very first appt. with the oncol. He told us it was to be used to solidify the progress made by the chemo.

Look out LC, we are an army of fighters :!:

CHris,

Thanks, I am definitely going to ask my dad's onc. about it just to see what he says. I have a feeling he is very "by-the-book" and the standard protocal is chemo only for extensive sclc patients. It can only help to ask, right?!
