  1. SAND & STONE

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT. DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE IN THE FACE.

THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT, BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING, WROTE IN THE SAND:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.

THEY KEPT ON WALKING, UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS, WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH .

THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.

AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING, HE WROTE ON A STONE:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.

THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND ASKED HIM, "AFTER I HURT YOU, YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW, YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?"

THE FRIEND REPLIED "WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN IN SAND WHERE WINDS OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY. BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US, WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT."

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

THEY SAY IT TAKES A MINUTE TO FIND A SPECIAL PERSON, AN HOUR TO APPRECIATE THEM, A DAY

TO LOVE THEM, BUT THEN AN ENTIRE LIFE TO FORGET THEM.

You will never be forgotten!!!! Thanks to all of you for continuing to encourage and be there!!!

  2. I am currently taking Tarceva and have for 21 months now. I can tell you what has worked for me and the rash issues I have had.. Also, Everything that I am doing I got an approval from my oncologist first. I recommend every one do that so nothing will interfere with your current treatment or health..

I have not had a severe breakout in about 8 months. Since that time I have changed my diet switched to other products for my face and skin.

I decided to stop eating meat and switched to a macrobiotic diet... I do eat fish however.

My face will usually clear up in a day or two....I also take a cod liver oil supplement by Nordic Naturals, I used olive oil to lubricate my skin and actually took baths with olive oil in it. Just the kind I bought at the grocery store... I used some Alba products and also Burt's Bees and found that the Burt's Bees Carrot Day Cream worked really well to help control... I recently have switched to a lotion called "Precipitation Extra Dry" which can be found at Origins. It has been amazing.. The only problem with the lotions is that organic or not they have chemicals that burn when your face is already broken out. I use them for maintenance and to keep the rash away..

I have tried many, many, many products and spent hundreds of dollars and so far this is what has worked best. I know Eucerin is a favorite to many but it did not work with me . It just masked the problem and left me really greasy. I needed to find a way to fix it.. I still get a rash but it is minimal and really only occurs when I mess up and eat meat or dairy (Unfortunately) or don't care for my skin as I should. But, in 8 months it has not been bad at all. I will try to post a current picture so you can see. Hope this helps!!!!! I totally agree with Dr. West when he says that the side effects are chronic and should be dealt with in that fashion. Dr. West rocks!!!!!

    GOD BLESS!!

  3. LESSONS IN LIFE

By Regina Brett, The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolls over to 50 this week, so here's an update:

    1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

    2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

    3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

    4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

    5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

    6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

    7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

    8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

    9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

    10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

    11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

    12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

    13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

    14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

    15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

    16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

    17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

    18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.

    19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

    20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

    21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

    22. Over-prepare, then go with the flow.

    23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

    24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

    25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

    26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"

    27. Always choose life.

    28. Forgive everyone everything.

    29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

    30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

    31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

    32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

    33. Believe in miracles.

    34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

    35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

    36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

    37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

    38. Read some good books. They cover every human emotion.

    39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

    40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

    41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

    42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

    43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

    44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

    45. The best is yet to come.

    46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

    47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

    48. If you don't ask, you don't get.

    49. Yield.

    50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

  4. From one 21 monther to another!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!! I am so happy for you Shar. I definately know what you mean about that hair thing... Does it grow slow or what? Also, Have you found that you really don't need tweezers for your eyebrows. I can just pull mine out...I have to be careful with washing my face or I might end up with no brows or lashes...

Loving life and God Bless You!!!

    Jamie

  5. Traci,

I just wanted to welcome you to the board. Also, to let you know that you are not alone in your journey. There are many caregivers here that can offer insight on the distress your feeling. Hang in there.... Prayers for you and your family during this time.

    GOD BLESS!!

    Jamie
