  1. Hey all!!

Just wanted to let you know thatI have found something that works for my dry skin caused from Tarceva. I soak in bath oil and apply Baby Oil Gel. I got both products at the corner drug store. The dry skin is gone and so has the discomfort. I haven't found the trick for the rash yet! If you know of anything that works for the rash, please let me know. THANKS!!

  2. The story is told of an old man who lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning, Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading from his old worn-out Bible.

His grandson who wanted to be just like him tried to imitate him in any way he could. One day the grandson asked, "Papa, I try to read the Bible just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bible do?" The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and said, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring back a basket of water." The boy did as he was told, even though all the water leaked out before he could get back to the house.

The grandfather laughed and said, "You will have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

    This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was "impossible to carry water in a basket," and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water;

I want a basket of water. You can do this. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got far at all. The boy scooped the water and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty.

Out of breath, he said, "See Papa, it's useless!"

"So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket." The boy looked at the basket and for the first time he realized that the basket looked different. Instead of a dirty old coal basket, it was clean. "Son, that's what happens when you read the Bible. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, it will change you from the inside out. That is the work of God in our lives.

To change us from the inside out and to slowly transform us into the image of His son.

Take time to read a portion of God's word each day.

    God Bless.

  3. The doctor's names is Arnel Pallera. He began his career in hematology and now specializes in oncology. Lung cancer is his field. There are other oncs. there that also deal with lung cancer. The West Clinic is wonderful. A very welcoming environment with many nice and caring people. The number is 901-683-0055.

Let me know if you need anything else. I am so glad that I could help you.

    GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  4. I always felt that I was special. I had three sisters and we all had very different goals in life. My goal was to get an education (1st one in family with a bachelor and master's) and to have a rewarding job. I DID IT!!! My job, band directing, was very rewarding. It was something, putting an instrument in a little child's hand and educating them to grow musically. It was wonderful experience for me.

    GOD BLESS!!!

  5. Kim,

I am sorry your feeling the way you do now. Does discussing these issues with your mom help any. Does she truly understand how you are feeling. Do you think depression could be an issue with your mom. I have been on Lexapro since I was diagnosed. I'm sure it's helping with the anxiety and depression related to having cancer. Maybe, talk to her doc about that!

Hope this helps. Keep your head up!!

    GOD BLESS!!

  6. Hey there!

My side effects have really been minimal in comparison with the previous treatment that I have had. I got the rash and a whole lot of dry skin. It comes and goes. I also have noticed that it takes a little longer for cuts to heal. I'm not sure if this Tarceva related. I get infections around my fingertips. The skin around my fingernails is very susceptible now for some reason. They aren't bad infections. Could be related to excessive dry skin. I also developed ulcerative colitis (runs in my family) and a polyp(also runs in my family). So, again I am not sure if this flare is from Tarceva. That's all that I have noticed. I am just so thankful to feel normal again.

By the way, I just finished my fourth month on the drug and so far all scans have been stable!!

    GOD BLESS!!

  7. Nancy,

I am so sorry for your losses. It makes me hurt for you and your family. I will pray for you and your family to find a way to handle everything your dealing with.

  8. Hey everyone!!!

    Your prayers worked.

Mom does not have cancer. The nodules on her thyroid were benign. We are so happy. She will still have to have them removed but that's it. No chemo or radiation. She has already been through that once this year. I know she couldn't have handled it again.

My dad is recovering wonderfully from his surgery.

    Thank you all so much!!!!!

We are so blessed to have your support!!

    Love and Hugs,

    Jamie

  9. Bluemax,

I am in Memphis. We have a wonderful comprehensive care clinic here called "The West Clinic". It is closely affiliated with M.D. Anderson. So, the treatment recipe would be what is best for you. Vanderbilt is also an awesome facility. Let me know if I can help you. My onc. is great. He saved my life and there is no waiting.

    GOD BLESS!!

    Jamie
