I'll have the Super Bowl on for the ads. I am supposed to be working during that time, and I'll work during the footbal and watch the ads. I am totally uninterested in football and have no favorite team, but as a graphic designer I want to see the ads.
My mom had VATS 13-1/2 months ago and still has discomfort. She had to have a 2nd chest tube inserted six days postop, and that is the spot that is the most uncomfortable. The first thing Mom does upon returning home is snap off the bra.
Although I am sorry to hear that others still have discomfort, it is somewhat comforting that Mom is not alone in this. Sometimes when she has a twinge, she says "Thank you Dr. ***," and names her surgeon.
Congrtats! I was so thrilled for my mom when she was able to shed her wig. She has two wigs that she put away and hopes to never see again. She hated wearing the wigs, they were hot and uncomfortable. She was lucky to be done with the wigs in June before summertime.
Seeing Mom wearing the wig was an awful reminder of lung cancer. Going "au naturelle" gives a sense of returning to normalcy. Good luck to you.
You know what this could be? Medical transcription error! Perhaps Dr. Grimm did not enunciate well when dictating the report and the transcriptionist "guessed" at the wrong word. I work in quality assurance for a medical transcription service and see "creative transcription" all the time. I encourage people I know to go to doctors who speak English well since there are more errors in the difficult to understand reports dictated by foreign physicians. My mom was given 2 names of oncologists, one American and one that I had done his dictation years ago and struggled with the accent. I encouraged Mom to go to the American doctor. Unfortunately some Americans do not dictate much better. Sometimes they are in such a hurry to finish dictating that it all comes out sounding like mush. This is probably one of the reasons specialists often want to see the actual films and not just the report. I hope I did not scare anyone too much, it is just a nasty reality in the medical world.
I am pretty sick of all the pink also. There was an e-mail circulating which features an animated woman "walking the world for breast cancer." The user is to use her own city name as the subject line and send the e-mail on to anyone on her address list. I have received this e-mail a few times. Just a couple of weeks ago, I received it again and changed the word breast to LUNG and sent it to everyone on my list. I have not received it back, but it was worth a shot.
Hope I am not stepping on any toes by naming a website, but www.choosehope.com has all types of awareness merchandise for many different kinds of cancer, including lung.
Paper cuts on every finger would be worse. You could not do anything without feeling the cuts.
Which is worse, not being able to go to bed until way later than usual or having to get up way earlier than usual?
Migraine headache. For me, a toothache can be tamed with Tylenol, but a migraine just has to run its course. The migraine also has other symptoms like light sensitivity, queasiness, whereas the toothache is just a toothache.
Which is worse, constipation or diarrhea?
