Great idea, Connie! I will look into that.

My mom was told any temperature above 100.4 to call her oncologist or go to the emergency room right away. It can be a sign of infection. My mom has been admitted to the hospital twice with temperatures. They gave her IV antibiotics to clear up the infections.

Hi All,
I would appreciate if you could all remember my mom in your prayers. She is going in for a CT scan tomorrow, because she has been having a nagging cough that they can't find the source too. If needed they are going to do a bronchoscopy (sp?) to look further into the lung. Then next week she has a PET scan to check on the success of her chemo. I am trying my best to remain positive. Thank you for thinking of us.

Sam,
Sorry to hear about the chemo effects you are having. I hope things get better for you soon. Also, I appreciate all the information you provide. Concentrate on yourself. I wish you the best.

Shelly,

Judy, I am so glad to hear your good news!!! Sorry you are having back pain. I hope the doctors can find something to alleviate that for you soon. I am also so happy for you that you are almost to two years since diagnose, gives me much needed inspiration and hope.

Christy,
My mom was considered inoperable, because the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. So for this reason, even if they went in and took out the cancer in her lung it would still be present in her lymph nodes. Also, they said that surgery would require quite a bit of time for my mom to recover from (past health issues) and that would delay the start of radiation and chemo. They didn't want to postpone this.
If it makes you feel any better, the doctor we saw at the Swedish Cancer Institute said there are new studies coming out that the combination of chemo and radiation can sometimes be as successful as surgery. He wanted us to know that just because my mom can't have surgery we shouldn't lose hope.
All the best to you.

Shelly,
I am so glad to see your post. I have been thinking of you a lot. I hope you don't feel you were judged. I think everyone is expressing how they get through the difficult times. I certainly believe there is life after death. I still have visions/dreams of my grandma who passed away almost 10 years ago. I think it is a comfort. I continue to pray for your mom. Please let me know if you ever need to talk. I am thinking of you and wishing you the best.

Kathy,
You have NO reason to apologize! This is the place to come when you need to vent and not worry about what others might think. I know I have had those days when I vent to my husband and then go back later and apologize for anything I might have said. This is a very difficult time and everyone here understands. I wish you all the best and hope that the Iressa is successful for Tim. All my best to you both.

Michelle, I am so sorry to hear about your husband. Please know you are in my thoughts and I continue to keep you in my prayers.

Welcome, Shirley! Sorry you have to be here, but you couldn't have picked a better group of people to find support, comfort and answers. When my mom was diagnosed I felt so overwhelmed, where do I begin, what questions do I ask, where are we heading, what do I even do! It can be so daunting. Whenever I have questions, I look for answers here. It is also a good source to find comfort when you need it. Don't ever give up hope. Educate yourself, ask the doctor questions and if you doubt anything, get a second opinion. My prayers are with you.

Norme,
I am praying that this will work for Buddy! Your attitudes are amazing and so right on, don't give up hope. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
