Mom and Dad have a wake up call planned for 5:45 tomorrow...then all the testing starts. The good news is that at Mayo you get results by 3:30 tomorrow afternoon...
Asking for your prayers. Thanks.

Dad goes on Monday for his next check-up...he has been doing so, so well! He is back to tinkering with lawn mowers, chopping and splitting trees, and has gained quite a bit of weight...probably more than he should, but also a sign that he is back to his old self!
Of course, those of you who know me, know that I am starting to bite the fingernails, grab a few too many chocolates, and wake at night, unable to go back to sleep...I will do this until we get the continued good news.
We have NOTHING to suggest there is ANY bad news...but of course we are dealing with cancer here...a true beast.
Please, keep us in your prayers....
Blessings to you all...

I am so sorry to read your post. Welcome to a wonderful family here at LCSC...please know we are here for you and will help in any way that we can.
I know where you are...I have been there. My dad was diagnosed with SCLC, which was VERY scary. We have, however, been blessed with remission, and continue to pray every day for all those suffering from this dreadful disease.
Stay strong and know we are here for you...
Blessings,

Rick,

My dad was always cold during chemo, and he still is usually pretty chilled, even 2 years later. He lost a bunch of weight too, so that played a role, but in general, his ability to warm up just isn't very strong.
Our doc said this is normal, and that we don't need to worry about it. We brought in some great sweatshirts, and we all laugh when he wears his stocking cap in June!
Blessings,

Blue Eye,
Your t-shirt inspired me...
I might have to pick one up!

The weather is beautiful, the birds sing me awake in the morning, and my children are hugging each other and living in peace (unusual, I know!) but deep inside is that ache; that ache I know so many of you know. It is the ache that cancer is out there. It is real, it is hurting people, and taking from them what they hold so dear. Urgh!!!!!
I just needed to vent.
This week I found out about 3 people who had/have cancer...
19 year old student who found it in his ankle.
16 year old girl who had a melanoma on her back
64 year old mom of daycare who has recurring cancer
Like I said, cancer sucks.
Sorry for being negative but I needed to vent.

Congrats! This is a MAJOR milestone! As hard as it is, you know you did everything you possibly could and there is so much peace in that. Slowly but surely, mom will start to feel better, and I cannot wish that enough to come soon.
Blessings to you and your family. Congrats!

Linda,
This does seem like a long time to me. If (and I don't think it is!) it were small cell, there would be significant growth in the tumor after that much time.
I hate to say it, but I am a huge fan of the second opinion. My dad had all of this done at Mayo and we had results the next day...I know that isn't standard fare, but at the same time, it just lets you know what is possible.
Blessings and good luck,
Jen

Connie,
My dad displayed his mask for the longest time...now it has simply disappeared...I wonder if the car may have run that one over too!
Glad to hear mom is holding up and you are well on your way to the end...
Blessings to you and mom,

Oh, I am so sorry to read your post. I think at this point it sounds like your doc is trying to ge her "healthy" before he begins treatment of any kind. I know my dad's doc said that the number one thing one can do in regards to remission...because you certainly can't control whether the cancer comes back or not, is to be as healthy as possible, so that you are ready to have whatever they can, thrown at you...
Scary, I know.
I just posted in another thread that I do think we have to be advocates of our own health care. In other words, if you are unhappy in your current situation, you might want to consider getting another opinion.
Blessings to you,
Jen
-
1st...talk to your doc about it..
2nd...seek a second opinion if you don't like what you hear.
Unfortunately we have to be our own advocates.
Blessings,
