  1. Hello Everyone, My dad started his chemotherapy today. Originally, he was told that he would be taking carbo/taxol/avastin. But then they changed it to carbo/taxotere/avastin. Has anyone had this combination before? If so, how successful was it. God Bless, Needhope
  2. My dad will be taking this combo this week. This is his first round of chemo. I will let you know how it goes. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Sincerely, Needhope
  3. I guess I shouldn't freak out too much about the will. It's just that his sister, who he was very close to, passed away three weeks ago from cancer( a week before his biopsy results.) So I don't want him to write himself off without a fight. He has prostate cancer as well (diagnosed six months ago, unrelated to lung). His current oncologist is going to put him on carboplatin/taxol/avastin. Has anyone had this combination before? If so, what were the results and/or side effects? Thanks, Needhope
  4. Thanks for the link. I am looking at Emory or Kennestone for second opinions/subsequent treatments if necessary. I've heard good things about both. I just wish we lived close to a Comprehensive Care Center. I don't want my Dad to lose hope. He already mentioned a will today which freaked me out. This is my worst nightmare come to fruition. 5. Hello Everyone, I am new here and I am glad that I have found such a wonderful community during this frightening time. My father is scheduled to start chemo this week for NSCLC Stage 4. They are going to start him on Taxol, Carboplatin, and Avastin for fear that his lungs may collapse if the cancer is not put under control. Though he is beginning treatment with his current oncologist, I am searching for a good lung cancer specialist in the Atlanta area. I have been researching like crazy the past couple of weeks and it would put my mind at ease if I could find a doctor that I can trust. I know the best option would be a Comprehensive Cancer Center but my dad balked at the idea of having to go out of state for treatment (there aren't any ccc's in GA). So could anyone please offer any suggestions of great places/doctors in Atlanta for lung cancer? Thanks, needhope
