  1. Hello Everyone, My dad started Tarceva in January after his first scan showed things were stable after taking carbo/taxotere/avastin. He saw his oncologist today and was told that his next scan would not be until April. Is it me or does January to April sound like too long of a time not to have a scan? This has me a little nervous. Sincerely, Rochelle

  8. That's just plain inexcusable. I am mad for you. Whoever the tech is should have to face some consequences. I can sympathize because I know how antsy and on-edge I feel around my dad's test time. Rochelle
  9. To echo what everyone else has said, please, please, please get a CT scan done if you have the slightest inclination that something is wrong. If it turns out to be nothing, then you will have the peace of mind knowing that things are OK and if (God forbid) the outcome is different then the sooner something is done about it, the better. You don't want to wait around and regret it later. God bless you and I pray that everything turns out fine. Sincerely, Rochelle

  12. Sorry you have a need to be here but you have found and excellent support community. Continued prayers for your mom. The fact that she still has a killer appetite is wonderful. Rochelle
  13. My dad got a CT scan last week but they did not give him an MRI. Do we have to request one? How often should they be done or are they usually only done after there are symptoms that point to a brain met? Thanks. Sincerely, Rochelle
  14. Hello Everyone, I personally like the timelines. It is what separates this forum from the other LC forums I have been to. When I first came to the boards it was kind of depressing reading some of them but then there are others that have given me so much hope. They've also been extremely helpful with looking at different treatments and how people responded to them as well as serious side effects that identify when something is going on that needs to be checked out by the doctor. Just my 2 cents. Sincerely, Rochelle
  15. You know, everytime I get down, I am reminded that there are so many people young and old that have passed since my dad was diagnosed. So many people who went suddenly and didn't have the chance to rectify the situation, whether it was a heart attack, car crash, stroke, or murder. Though cancer SUCKS I did come to the realization that with every day that my dad is alive, God is giving him another chance at life. And for that reason, I continue to count my blessings. Sincerely, Rochelle
  16. Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes. You all are the best! My dad doesn't see the doc again until Tuesday so we won't know until then Until then, I am preparing for an eventful weekend. I am closing on a house tomorrow and my birthday is Sunday so we have alot to keep us occupied I will keep everyone posted. Again, thanks a million! Sincerely, Rochelle
  17. Congratulations!! I'm hoping your husband has continued success. Sincerely, Rochelle
  18. This is great! Thanks for the info. Sincerely, Rochelle
  19. Hi Everyone, Has anyone tried or know of someone who has tried Immunotherapy? The whole argument behind it (building up your immune system so that it naturally fights cancer cells) makes so much sense to me. There is a doctor by the name of Dr. Arnold Smith at the North Cenral Mississippi Cancer Center who has had good results. Link- http://www.cancernet.com/ Has anyone been there? Thanks, Rochelle
  20. Hello Everyone, My dad goes in for his first CT scan since starting chemo in November. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I'm almost sick with anxiety. Sincerely, Rochelle
  21. Hi Randy, I think you do an excellent job of posting what's going on in the area of Lung Cancer research and new treatments. I check this section everyday. It gives me hope. Please don't stop. Sincerely, Needhope
  22. Hi Terry, I'm praying that this treatment is successful for you. So far my dad's treatment has been so much more tolerable than I expected. Hoping yours will be the same. Sincerely, Needhope
  23. Welcome, My father being diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer is the most frightening thing I've ever faced. But after finding this website I have the hope despite the statistics. I'm praying for the best for you and your loved one. Sincerely, Needhope
  24. Hi, A similar situation happened to my dad. A spot was noticed on his lung almost six months prior to his diagnosis. After he was given a bronchoscopy he was told that it was not cancer. Six months later he woke up with extreme swelling on the side of his neck and told, after a biopsy, that it was indeed lung cancer which had spread throughout the mediastinum. His is moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. I often have the "what ifs" and wonder what stage the cancer was when first noticed and whether we could have caught it before it reached Stage IV. Why did the doctors just rely on a bronchoscopy and not do a biopsy from the beginning to make sure? But I realize there is nothing we can do about it now. I am just more conscious of gettting copies of reports and making sure the appropriate scans are done. But it makes you knowing that on top of battling a disease as scary as cancer, you have to check behind people that you are paying to get the job done. Sincerely, Needhope
