    My dad has passed

My loving dad passed away on November 1, 2003 due to respiratory arrest. I think that his death could have been avoided if his onc. would have been any kind of a doctor. On Wednesday he went to see his onc. because he was really weak and his chest hurt bad. He was also running a temp. His onc. did a chest x-ray, did not order the results stat so it was going to take a day to read the x-ray. He told my dad that he could treat him at home with antibiotics. I met my mom to help get my dad into the house when that got home from the onc., I never cried in front of my dad but that day I did. He told me that everything was going to be alright . At 2:00 am he stopped breathing. My mother did cpr on him until the paramedics arrived. He held on and fought for 3 days and at 10:30 pm Saturday he died while I was holding his hand. Now my whole world is turned upside down. My dad and I have worked together for over 12 years, I don't know what I am going to do without him. I have never hurt like this before. The onc. should have put him in the hospital on Wednesday when he saw what condition my dad was in. I am already missing him so much. When you are together with your family it gets better but when they all leave you get a lonely feeling. I will post more later. Donnie
  2. My dad was told the same thing, that he was in remission. He kept having pain in the same areas in the bone and his onc. told him that it was not cancer related. After a month goes by my dad could not stand the pain so the doctor did a scan and the cancer is in the same spots that he was told it was gone. My dad still had two more chemo treatments schedule but he was told that they were not needed. We are now in the process of changing onc. and are going to insist a PET scan. When you are told you are in remission and one month later its back is like a slap in the face. I hope everything goes well for you. God Bless Donnie
  3. My dad had a clear scan on 8/18. He is still in bad pain in the bones that had the mets. They started him on Zometa 2 cycles, and he is on Iressa. Has anyone had these same problems? Could this be side effects from the drugs? He told me he is just tired of hurting and thought that he would be feeling better by now. He is in the same pain as the day he was diagnosed. If anyone has any advice let me know. Thanks in advance. Donnie
  4. I will be praying for you and good results. Donnie

  6. That is good news! Our prayers were answered. Keep me posted on your dad. Donnie
  7. I would like to thank everyone that prayed for my dad. His onc. said his scans showed everything is clear. He does not have to take his last two rounds of chemo. They are starting him on Iressa and going to keep giving him the Zometa. This is the news I have been waiting for. Donnie
