Kasey,
The lack of press and media exposure given to lung cancer does get to me. I believe that we are at a turning point and that things ARE changing.
Rochelle,
Thanks for the compliment. You guys in the Grand Blanc area are doing well also. It's hard to believe the walks are almost here. Hopefully our weather will cooperate.
Good Luck to Everyone with walks for LUNGevity coming up!!

Here is the link to an article in the Detroit News today about lung cancer and our upcoming walk.

Joe,
Glad to hear all went well at the NIH and that you are having a good response to the vaccine. The trial sounds promising. What a blessing that you and Gina got to hook up with your new friends for the evening.
Take care and have a safe trip next week.

Stopping by to THANK everyone for all your good wishes. I am off for a 3 day fly fishing retreat for women cancer survivors. My good friend who is a breast cancer survivor is going as well. It should be a blast! I know NOTHING about fly fishing, but it has always intrigued me.
Thanks Again!

Good Evening Everyone,
I saw my oncologist today for the results of my CT scan last week. He said the several nodules I have in my right lung and 2 of the enlarged lymph nodes have not changed and are considered stable. I have 2 hilar lymph nodes that have increased in size. Since the increase in size is small, his plan is to wait and do another PET and CT scan in 3 months. If the hilar nodes increase in size or light up on the PET in October, they will most likely do another biopsy. He is leaning toward thinking this is still inflammation, but said that he cannot be sure it is not cancer. He said if it was his chest he would take the wait and see approach. I trust him totally, and as it appears that there may be another process going on, I agree with him.
I am very thankful and pleased that for the most part things are staying stable. Thanks again for all your love and support.

Good Luck Joe! Many prayers for a postive response and outcome. Have a safe trip.

Joe,
What a nice story about you and your family. Thanks for sharing!
BTW - you and my son had the same neurosurgeon. Dr. Rosenblum is a great surgeon. Todd had surgery 1/16/06 and then agressive treatment through Henry Ford. Though he developed seizure again a few months ago, it is not from tumor. His scans are still stable.

Though I am not taking any extended timme off work, I do have a few days off here and there.
I don't work much of next week and am going to relax and catch up with a few friends. We have a 18ft sailboat and we look forward to using her a lot. I say look forward because the new motor we purchased has been in for repair for a few weeks with no date of completion set. UGH!!
My daughter, Lisa, and I are going to Chicago for a long weekend for a family biridal shower. My other daughter, Lori, and her family live in that area so we will be staying with them. I get a Grandma fix and will be able to see my 6 year old grandson, Jordan's. last t-ball game.
The end of July I am going on a 3 day fly- fishing retreat called Reeling and Healing for women cancer survivors. They have retreats for men as well. They teach you everything and supply everything. All for the cost of $25. I can't wait. For anyone in the midwest their website is www.fishon.org.
Then Labor Day weekend it's back to Chicago for the family wedding.
Wishign you all a wonderful summer!

At my semi annual asthma check up 1/07 with my toxicity doc, my PFT levels were a lot worse. Told him I had a perisitent cough after a cold 2 months previous. After 1 round of antibiotics he did a CT and it looked like inflammation. I had 2nd round of antibiotics and another CT 3/07. Nodule is small but now looks suspiscious for malignancy. PET normal. Needle biopsy inconclusive.
Because of my exposure to ruptured silicone breast implants he referred me to Karmanos Cancer Institute. They thought it was most likely benign, but recommended removal. VATS 5/16/07 showed cancer and they proceeded with RLL lobectomy.
I believe in my heart that if I had seen my regular PCP a chest xray would not even had been done. I was blessed to have a doc who know that my exposure put me at a higher risk. I tell him that he is my guardian angel.
