  1. Hi Tami. You don't have a profile posted but if I remember correctly you had a whole lung removed. You would probably have qualified for SSDI at that time. If you would have qualified then, I see no reason you would not qualify now. You are working now. The question should not be are you working but are you able to work. You are still under the doctors care I presume. Lung function does improve over time but I am not sure if it improves enough to change matters that much. Perhaps it depends on the type of work you do. I know the type of work I was doing there was no question that I could ever return to that work. I guess where I am going here is that all people may be different in that area.

What does you doctor say? I would assume that SS would send you for their own test before denying you. The first test would probably be a PFT test. I can't imagine an attorney turning you down if your doctor says you can't work.

Did you apply and get turned down or are you only thinking of applying? You can continue to work and apply at the same time. There is a limit on what you can earn tho. Check with SS. See what they say. Keep us posted. Good luck.

  2. Gosh Ginny. How time does fly. It does not seem like 2 years. It seems like yesterday that you were posting another chapter about the Duke. Another thing...I am glad you have stayed with us. You have always been an inspiration to a lot of us here. Altho you and I are not fighting the same battle, I have been inspired by a lot of your posts.

  3. I never ride those thrill rides. As much as I love Dollywood, I never ride them when I go there. I do ride the water rides etc when I go. I last rode a roller coaster in 1979 when I went to Opryland in Nashville. I have rode the large one at Carawinds in NC too.

  4. Some time ago I read a post but can't find it now. Perhaps you remember it or maybe you have saw it and can get a copy. It listed things "Cancer Can't Do" it went something like...Cancer can not take away memories etc. I think it listed 10-12 things. Can you help? I would like to see this in our cookbook. :)

  5. There was a post sometime ago that listed things CANCER CAN NOT DO. I think it would be appropiate to include it in the book either as a seperate page (like the front) or on back of divider page. does anyone remember the post or have a copy? I have tried a search for it but can not locate it. I know I can get it where I had radiation cause I would read it at each treatment. Just an idea. :)

  6. Does anyone remember picking up soda pop bottle to sell for candy? How about collecting marbels to trade or hollering over the fence for your neighbor to come to the telephone. Remember those "party lines" and I am talking telephone now and not a party as we know it today. Who ever thought that we would be "typing" this over the telephone line today.

I could go on forever but I won't because I love to reminisce the old days and if I get started I might not stop.

  7. Did not see a place to cast my vote but here it is...YES. I have shown mine to people and had to threaten force to keep them from confiscating it. I did re-order for them tho. I urge anyone who has not gotten one to order one or more. :)

  8. I recently replied to a thread that was started in 2004. Not only is that thread long but it has replies from a lot of members that have passed on. It was a good thread and I thought it was worth keeping open so I bumped it to the top. I did not relize it might be painful for some and I apoligize for that.I am starting a new thread for this. Here is a link to the old thread in case someone might like to look over it.

there are some pretty interesting 'usernames' here, and I'm figuring based on some of them-namely my own-that many of us use a nickname of some sort...so if you are willing to share, I'd LOVE to hear the background of some of these names. Also, if yours is not a nickname, but just a username for this site, what made you come up with it? I figure sharing some of this info. will be interesting, and telling...

  9. When I got my first computer and got on AOL, every name I could think of -except my name or initials- was already taken. While sitting there trying to get AOL set up my wife was playing with the dog. She told him that I just didn't care about him anymore, and that I had replaced him with my computer. My reply was "I love my dog too". That is when it dawned on me. I had my Username. I put the 2 to it to make it stand out. I have continued to use it now for 7 years.

  10. I have been wanting to start this thread for some time now. We had a lot of fun with this about 3 years ago when there were only about 500 members. There are now over 3000.

How did you get your Username and what does it stand for? I'll go first.

  11. Gosh Debi. I hate to hear all of this. I thought that you were rebounding great from the surgery. I would think another opinion is in order. I have never used oxygen except in hospital (and then I'd pull it off at night). Sounds like Sleep Apnea to me. My O2 level is also in high 90's. I do know that when I did the 6 minute walk, the nurse had to tell me to shut up cause it messes up the level. Yep. She told me to shut up. As far as sleeping level, I am like Becky...I don't know. Anyway, I hope you get over the SOB soon.
