  1. Good morning, Judy! Good morning, everyone! This morning was a bit tough for a bike commute. It was 44 degrees, with the thickest fog I've every ridden in. When you're doing 12 mph, and feeling like you're going too fast for the conditions, the fog must be thick! I kept having to wipe the mist off my glasses. But it's supposed to warm into the 70's this afternoon, so it will be perfect for the ride home. Have a great day, everyone!

    Great news, ts. Congrats!
  3. Happy Sunday, everyone! I had a very lazy day yesterday. I slept eight and a half hours, which I never do. But, I had no particular reason to get up early, and figured a long night's sleep might help my cold. Rose and I grocery shopped as well as shopped for a storm door. I think that was a little too much for her for one day yet, so she took it easy today. My cold was a lot better this morning, so I hopped on the bike at 7:30 am. I did a shorter, easier ride than I usually do on a weekend, since I'm just getting over my cold. I ended up with just over 61 miles. The weather is supposed to be mild for the next few days, so I'm planning on riding to work every day this week, then it's a FOUR DAY WEEKEND! Works for me...
  4. Happy Friday, everyone! It's just another day at the salt mine here. It rained on and off all day, plus I still have my cold, so no bike riding today. Have a good weekend, all!
  5. That's great news, Susan! Here's hoping your mother will continue to improve for a long time.
  6. Amen to that. I've had a terrible cold since Tuesday, and at my wonderful place of employment, they're cracking the whip about being online on company time, so I'll likely just be on at lunch and a quick fly by at breaks for a while. Other than that, everything is just hunky dory in my neck of the woods. Have a great day, everyone!
  7. Good morning, everyone! Good luck with the job, Randy! It's cool here, today. It was 48 degrees with a howling north wind as I rode to work. Between the wind and tired legs from Saturday's 126 mile ride, it took me well over an hour to get to work. The commute to work is almost straight north, so the next time the north wind is blowing like this, I need to think to leave earlier. Not much exciting happening here, just another day at the salt mine. Have a good week, everyone!

    Best News!

    That's great news, Dawn. Congrats!
  9. Hi everyone. TGIF! I had another really busy day at work so didn't get to post earlier. It was warm and windy here today, and they're calling for the same tomorrow, but with more clouds. Rose's swelling got so bad yesterday that she went to the doctor to make sure it wasn't an infection. They said no infection. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
  10. Wow, I was so busy today at work, I never had time to sit down and post in the Air. On my feet and climbing machines all day at work, then lots to do at home, I'm a tired camper. Glad I already ate; all this cooking talk would have made me hungry. Judy, I probably down more whole wheat pasta than anyone you know. It takes lots of carbs to ride as many miles as I do, and whole wheat pasta is good carbs. But my eating habits this year haven't been as good as the last couple of years, and I'm dragging around a few extra pounds because of it. If you ride a bicycle 7,000 miles in a year, there's just no excuse for carrying extra weight, but it looks like I'm going to manage to, all year this year.
  11. Judy, I'm taking a two day break from riding to work, tomorrow and Friday, even without rain. I'm doing a 130 mile ride Saturday with a couple of friends. They're both faster than me and, hating to slow them down too much, I always end up hammering along for all I'm worth when I ride with them. So, a couple of rest days before the ride seems in order. ts, the city of Corsicana, Texas was made fun of all over the internet because they actually held a cancer fund raising bbq there. Read about it here (which is not to say that I believe everything from those nutrition sites, either, but charred meat is a proven carcinogen, making a cancer bbq very politically incorrect).

Sorry to read of the loss of your friend, Bruce. Condolences to his family and friends.
  13. Good morning, everyone! It's slightly cooler today here in north Texas, but still going to be a beautiful day with a high of 70 degrees. I rode my bike to work for the third straight day this week. The network here at work blocks so much stuff that I'll have to wait until I get home to see Judy's new photo. I figure it's only a matter of time until they block all forums, including this site. How much longer do I have before retirement?
  14. Wow, where's a crickets sound effects file when you need one? I'm surprised no one started the Air today. It was another beautiful day in north Texas today, 57 degrees as I rode to work, and 75 degrees as I pedaled home. I administered a shot for the first time last night. Rose's surgeon gave her Lovenox to take home to prevent blood clots, telling her to give herself shots daily. She came home and said there was no way that was happening, so I instantly became the designated shot giver. Should I change my ID to Nurse Bud?
  15. It was cloudy and 61 degrees with light winds here when I hopped on the bike this morning. It's supposed to be partly cloudy and in the 70's this afternoon, so another great day for commuting on the bike. Rose rigged the guest bedroom bed with lots of pillows so she'd be fairly upright, and slept there last night. She got up briefly before I left this morning. The dog is used go going back to bed with her after I leave, he figured out where she was, and was whining at the door until she let him in. She seems to be doing very well for so soon after surgery.
  16. Good morning, everyone! Best wishes for great results, Judy! It's another beautiful day here in North Texas, 50 degrees as I pedaled to work, headed for the 70's this afternoon. Since I'm not working tomorrow, I can say I rode my bike to work every work day this week. Not much else going on here, I'm just trying to get through this week's version of Friday.
  17. Unfortunately, plenty of doctors, just like other people, have this attitude. If they can find something definitive to blame cancer on, it helps them believe that they'll never get cancer themselves.
  18. Good morning, everyone! I rode to work for the third day in a row. It's the first time we've had three dry days in a row here since I started commuting by bike. They're calling for 77 degrees with sunshine and light winds this afternoon; I'll be in shorts and short sleeves for my ride home. I wore my new Livestrong jersey on the ride this morning. I guess I should have also worn my "Cancer Sucks" socks, huh...
  19. I guess waffles with peanut butter and maple syrup would be my favorite breakfast, but I don't eat that often. The usual is oatmeal with honey, cinnamon, and rice milk. It usually wouldn't be me doing the cooking, either (except for the oatmeal), but with my wife having her surgery on Friday, I'd better find my apron.
  20. I was on the bike at 5:25 am this morning, headed for work. With the time change, it was actually twilight when I got to work, instead of the still total darkness it always was before the time change. I hope everyone had a good weekend. It was pretty much my usual weekend. I rode 100 miles Saturday, then mostly took it easy Sunday. Good luck with the scans, Judy!
  21. Good luck for Wednesday, Debbie! Let us know how everything is going when you can.
  22. TGIF! Happy Birthday, Ann! Hope you're feeling better, Judy. Spammers got so bad on the small forum I run that I disabled registration, and make everyone email me to join the forum. I know this forum is too big for that, but it sure made life easier on my small forum. 48 degrees with a steady rain when I got up this morning, so for the second day in a row, I left the bicycle in the garage and drove to work. And a long work day it's turning out to be. Come on, 4:00 pm!
