  1. Bean-si, I was so glad to see a post from you, and to see you composed and still willing to help. You have been missed here, and not just by me. All the best in dealing with your predicament, but please share it so that the rest of us can try to help you cope. Best wishes, Karel.
  2. www.mucos.cz provides description of Wobenzym as well as summaries of research papers. If you are interested in Wobenzym, do have a look there. Mucos is the manufacturer of Wobenzym. Karel.
  3. Jan, John and Joe (oncodoc) many thanks for your messages and advice. It is difficult to express the value of this forum (especially to those who have not experienced for comparison the West Australian version of The Cancer Council's "Helpline" ). Thanks again, Karel.
  4. There is quite a good explanation of the "acid v. alkaline" idea on http://seasilver.threadnet.com/Prevento ... .htm#Intro Good luck, Karel
  5. For Oncodoc please: Rachel has been placed in a clinical trial combining docetaxel (Taxotere) with an experimental drug PI-88. The protocol is: week 1, 2 and 3 Taxotere on day 1, PI-88 on days 1, 2, 3 and 4. Week 4 is free. Rachel had marrow depression with Cisplatin and Gemcitabine which curtailed the treatment (as well as peripheral neuropathy which has not quite cleared up yet). She would like to try Glutamine as a "protective agent", and I noticed in a previous message that you use it for 1 week in a monthly chemo regimen. How would you use it in a weekly schedule? Continuously or for 3-4 days per week? Thanks in advance, Karel.
  6. bean_si, It may help if you can look back and see at what period in time your BP has changed, and see which supplement you started a short time prior. I am not expert enough on supplements and their side effects to be much help. I do know Celebrex can be a culprit, but I don't see it on your list. The other approach would be to stop all as you have done, and start introducing them one at a time until you see your BP going up again, discontinue the last addition to see if you return to normal and continue adding the rest one at a time. Decide which you think are the most important to you and start with them (eg. Paw Paw, IP6&Inositol, grape seed and so on). Wait at least 3 days between additions. Good luck, Karel.

    IP6

Cary, Thanks for the info. If you are able to email me a copy as an enclosure, I would appreciate it ( vahalakv@bigpond.net.au ). My other question was : where do you source the tetrathiomolybdate? Thanks, Karel.

    IP6

Cary, I would also appreciate a copy of the recent article on tetrathiomolybdate or perhaps a link to it may be simpler. Where do you get it from? Best regards, Karel.
  9. bean_si, no matter what your fired onc says, your new one is able to write a report too. Keep fighting, Karel.

    IP6

Thanks bean_si and others, Cell Forte is what Rachel takes, but as you have noticed, the 800+220 is in 2 capsules. It had us fooled for a few days as well. Cheers, Karel.

    IP6

bean_si, May I ask where you found IP6 800 and Inositol 220 in one tablet? I kept looking but could not find the full dosage in one. Best wishes, Karel.
  12. Just a comment on the macrobiotic diet. The diet itself is probably OK though in my opinion not as good as a relatively raw veg and fruit diet. There is a belief that there are phytochemicals in veg and fruit that cannot be compensated for by supplements. I do think that added supplements provide a far better level of these active compounds than can be had in the diet alone. So, happy pill-swallowing. Cheers, Karel.
  13. That's just what Rachel says.(But she swallows them anyway). Karel.
  14. Bean_si, As you say, the cost of "Sun Soup" is prohibitive. The article which Jana posted above breaks SV down to what the authors cosidered the 4 active ingredients. Daidzein and genistein are found in life Extension's Mega Soy Extract at $28 for 60 days for doses exceeding those found in SV. IP6 is the third constituent which only leaves Coumestrol - an isoflavone oestrogen compound found in alfa-alfa. So there would seem to be a cost-effective substitute. Best wishes, Karel.
  15. bean_si, I was introduced to Wobenzym by a cousin who is a surgeon in the Czech Republic. The dose they use for cancer patients is 3 tablets 3 times a day and that is what Rachel has been taking for 1 year now. lef have curcumin with bioprene added. Cheers, Karel.
  16. bean_si, a good summary of IP6 and Inositol is on www.doctormurray.com/articles/old/ip6.htm .
  17. bean_si or should I call you Cat? The approved ratio appears to be 800/220 or so. www.seacoastvitamins.com has that combination per serve of 2 capsules in lots of 240 for $27.95. If you already have your IP6, check whether this is per 1 or 2 capsules. www.zooscape.com have Inositol 250 mgm tablets. www.vitanetonline.com is another source. Please check that your supply does not say 800 mgm per serve of 2 capsules. For cancer patients Dr Shamsuddin suggests a daily dose of 4800-7200 mg of IP6 with 1200-1800 mg of Inositol. Good luck with all that, Karel.
  18. bean_si, There is 45 mgms of bromelaine in each Wobenzym Tablet, and the active portion of Turmeric is Curcumin. According to "lef" it is poorly absorbed unless some piperine is added. I do not know what the third component of your pill does.
  19. bean_si, None of us know everything there is to know; isn't that why these forums are so useful, with everyone adding their knowledge and experience? And you have ceratainly contributed a lot yourself. Here is Rachel's menu: Wobenzym Transfer Factor Plus alpha-lipoic acid Selenium Melatonin Celebrex IP6 with Inositol N-Acetyl Choline Grape Seed Extract Zinc. Vit E and C For a person who used to take several minutes to swallow the smallest of pills that is quite an achievement.
  20. Is there anyone out there who has tried CHELATION to deal with Peripheral Neuropathy caused by Cisplatin? My wife Rachel has developed this, and I would like to find her some help. Best wishes, Karel.
  21. Angie and Betty, Items in the "outbox" have not been sent out yet (at least, not correctly). Items in the "sent" have been sent out and may or may not have been opened by the recipient (there is no way of telling unless you use the protocol for having the message acknowledged). Just wanted to correct an apparent misunderstanding of what the darn machine is up to.
  22. bean_si, Quite an impressive array of supplements. An important point I feel I must make is that IP6 works much better with 200mgm of Inositol added. If you do not have a combined capsule, please consider adding the Inositol. According to Dr. Sxxxxxx (can't remember the whole name) the main researcher of this supplement, the combination is important. Best wishes. Karel.
  23. My wife Rachel has recently completed 6 cycles of Cisplatin and Gemcitabine. She is well in herself but has developed quite unpleasant Peripheral Neuritis induced by the Cisplatin. Has anyone here had this problem, and had chelation to remove the Platinum been considered?
  24. bean_si, That website is not bad as far as it goes, but it does not go very far and covers only a few of the adjuvant treatments available. It leaves out IP6, Inositol, Glutamine, N-Acetyl-cysteine, Curcumin and Vit C to name just a few of those more useful than the ones on the website you quote. Please have a look at the www.lef.org website under their "Cancer Adjuvant Treatments"on the right hand side of the home page. That site is more complex than the one you quote, but it has many more supplements and goes into them in a lot more depth. The tables on the Alternative Cancer Treatment site giving points in columns are not very reliable although they look pretty, and the site leaves out far too much useful material compared to the lef.org. Cheers and best wishes, Karel
  25. bean-si, it is so good to see you posting and in your usual clear way. I also agree that we have a situation where the pharmaceutical industry finances trials of drugs they have researched in laboratory; moreover, they support institutions like NIC and Sloan-Kettering in their refusal to acknowledge therapies which have not gone through the Phase I & II trials. Since the industry is alone in having the finances for such trials, the reccomendations of the NCI, FDA, Sloan Kettering and other "prestigious" bodies are unavoidably tainted, as are the exclusions. There are a few supplements with scientific laboratory backup like Glutamine and Curcumin, as well as IP6 and IV Vitamin C with limited clinical trials. And it must be stressed that what limits these trials is financial support. The main thrust of these seems to be a "normalising" effect on cancer cells, altering them to normal cells which then die off like normal body cells (apoptosis). This approach, if successful, has I think the most promise for patients with advanced and otherwise intractable cancers although the idea of cell conversion should be useful at any stage. I rather like the www.lef.org web site for review of scientific support and explanation for supplements.
