  1. Good Evening Everyone,

Beautiful day here today, though not the 80 degrees JudyMI mentions currently in Michigan.I am so envious.

Well besides my usual exercise regime over the last week, I attended a SIGN sponsored conference on Thursday last, under the heading Healthcare Improvement Scotland in the Beardmore Hotel within the Golden Jubilee Hospital building. This hospital, was built by a private health insurance company to cater for the middle eastern countries,in attracting oil rich clients for medical care,so the story goes,it was never viable and was taken over by the UKs NHS.Incidentally,it was where I had my LC op.I joined one workshop which topically was about writing medical guidelines, although the topic was about abdominal aeortic aenurisms (apologies about the spelling).By good fortune, my fellow layperson on the committee for the redrafting of the document The management of patients with lung cancer, was there.George and I have been tasked to produce a document about what information should be given to a newly dxd lung cancer patient,we have been provided with examples of such a document which relates to other types of cancers,George and I have agreed to collaborate in its production, its due to be handed in by the end of May.On leaving the conference late afternoon,I returned to the car park,to pick up my car,its not where I left it,thinking perhaps my recall was flawed I walked all the ranks of parked cars for about half an hour,to no avail, the cars gone.I returned to the hotels reception desk to report my loss, and to phone the police, the receptionist thinks for a moment, and asks,”Did I enter the Hospital side of the complex or the Hotel side, sheepishly I enquire “You mean there’s two car parks?you’ve guessed it, I exit the other side of the building and sure enough my car is there where I had left it.

Saturday,I attended my BIL’s 60th birthday party in the Cafe Asia function suite,it was a great night, food, music and company, one fly in the ointment, no White and Mackays on the gantry,I had to settle for the malts of Glenfiddoch and Glenmorangie, well somebody has got to do it.Mid way through the evening Pat was called to the floor by the DJ to receive a wee prezzie, which he described for Pat as a “Dancing Aid”,when Pat arrived the DJ presented him with a full size inflatable zimmer. The kids had great fun playing with it for the rest of the evening.Pat was pleased with my gift of a seaplane flight up the west coast of Scotland and dinner in a restaurant on the shore of Loch Lomond.Another prezzie he received from the family was a day out at Inglestone race track, thinks Randy would like this one,he gets to drive a Porche? and a Lambourgine around the track,I will be going with him to get some pics of the action.

Gosh so much going on with all of you over this last week,JudyMI,sorry to hear of your continual medical probs,I really seem to have been lucky with my experience of cisplatin and vinorelbine in that I never had any appreciable side effects of tinnitus, nausea or muscle ache,I do hope you will be over these effects, soon as.I have to compliment you on your resilience and stoicism in the face of such adversity since your op,an example to us all here, methinks.

JudyKW,another soldier still fighting with hospitals and doctors,I really do wish you can have a break(permanent) from all of this, best wishes for your next procedure on Wed.Did you get booked up foe WashingtonDC? I am so looking forward to meeting you at last and the all many others that frequent our boards.

Hi Janet,Thank you for the link to Ray of Light,it looks a super place to spend time,I so envy you working there, you are so right being with children and animals brings a smile.Best wishes for your CT and MRI scans, gosh its like we all in a episode of Dr Kildare, perhaps you are all too young to remember that prog?LOL.

Hi Bud,Thanks for sharing the wedding pics of your lovely family. How did your 200k cycle event go?

Sorry got to go everyone,ok who said at last?,its indoor bowling time,I really must post a bit more often, sorry if I did’nt mention some of you,its not deliberate as much as giving everyone a break from me.Bye for now.

  2. A blood test which could detect lung cancer in patients years earlier than at present will be piloted across Scotland.

The scheme will test smokers who are at the highest risk of developing the disease in an effort to improve survival rates.

Scotland has one of the worlds highest rates of lung cancer.Nearly 5000 get diagnosed every year, double the UK rate.

Under the pilot,60 GP surgeries will test 10,000

    patients over four years.

  3. Hi abacopeg,

Always a pleasure to welcome a new arrival, sorry to read of your dx.This is just the place to be to provide you with friendship and support on your cancer journey. Many buddies here are long term survivors, who with their experience to share with you, will lighten your burden.

Personally,I am pretty useless at the technical medical stuff, save for the particular treatments I went through, however,I hope I can share friendship with you and a bit of humour. Can I recommend a daily dose of our forum Just for Fun?.I also have ,with others, posted loads of my pics in the members photo album forum.

Looking forward to getting to know you.Bye for now.

  4. Hi Bud,

Thanks for sharing the photograph, congratulations to your daughter and her new husband, may they have many happy and healthy years to-gether.Any chance of sharing more pics, would be nice for everyone here to see the happy couple, not forgetting Bud and Rose of course.

  5. Good Evening Everyone,

Its almost Tuesday here,I have been having a busy time of it last week, diary full of activities, gymming and swimming,yoga-ing,or as my friend Jim calls it yogurt, bowling.Weekend, Saturday,up and out just after 7.00am,its ABC mens breakfast time, got to set up the tables and serve the one million calories per plate fry up,absolutely delicious.I was also out at the indoor bowling club on Saturday evening,my buddy Bill, plays in a outdoor bowling club, that booked my club for a competition,it was a great night out, needless to say I did'nt win any prizes.

Sunday, ABC,then a trip to Cosco for some groceries, reversing out my parking bay I swung the car round at the kerb, moving forward,I heard this grating sound,I have just scraped the skirt of my car against an unseen "decorative" boulder, grrr,as Richard Wilson would say "I dont believe it",what on earth is a boulder doing there?. Up then to sister Dot's fun and games with Emma and Jack.Husband Jim is on holiday for the next fortnight,so we have arranged an excursion for Friday next.

Saturday next is my sister's husband Pats sixtieth birthday party, looking forward to a great night with all the usual suspects.I have booked a flight for Pat on a seaplane,it flies from the centre of Glasgow on the River Clyde, going up the west coast of Scotland,we have arranged Pat to board the plane on Loch Lomond, since after the flight we will have lunch in a beautiful restaurant on the banks of Loch Lomond in Balloch.

I have applied for a job in Airdries Town Hall which is also a theatre, its currently being extensively renovated so its going to be a great place to visit. The job is front of house, tuxedo clad meeter and greeter on show nights,I have appeared on the stage in the past in so many great shows in this theatre,I dropped my membership following my dx,always thinking about going back. This job will suit me down to the ground,I love meeting people and chatting to them, hopefully despite my age and health situation I will at least get an interview?.

Well I have booked myself into the hotel in WashingtonDC for the Hope Summit from 2nd of May until the 8th of May then its a train ride to New York for sightseeing until I fly home to Scotland on the 17th of May,I am counting the days, hopefully I am going to meet many of you,I have only the pleasure of communicating with online.

I am sorry about lack of posting recently, but I have been reading Just for Fun each day,JudyMI best wishes for your chemo starting on Thursday,I am so pleased to read of the support you can call in from church friends, you are really lucky to have such friends in your corner.I loved reading all the rooster and duck tales, being a townie I never got close to farm animals unless I visited the local zoo.Janet seems I have only a vague understanding of your animal farm work,do you run the farm or do you assist the people who do,I am right in thinking its a animal rescue centre?.Bud I had to laugh at your comments on moving your recliner chair with Rose into your home, may you have many pleasant days reclining in it.

Since its just now become Tuesday,I will post this under that heading.Enjoy Mon/Tues.

  6. Good Afternoon Everyone,

I woke up this morning to a brilliant sunshine and blue skies,Setting out for the gym,I had to scrape the frost off my car.Arrived at the on ramp to the M80,a hugh tailback as far as the eye could see, nothing moving,I skirt around a roundabout,to try an alternative route, thats blocked too, nothing left but to return home.

Would you believe another boiler repair?,the repair requires two guys to do the work and the spare part to be fitted costs £500,thank goodness I took out that maintenance contract, the guys are still here thats four hours, plus,Sally and I have to meet up with a financial advisor this afternoon,so having to leave the repairmen a door key they can post through my letterbox when we leave. We are meeting the advisor at the Tudor Hotel, since I didnt want to risk a home visit, from a week ago.

I spent today tidying up outside, swept the rear patio, and did all my front edging borders, the place is now looking pretty neat and tidy,I seem to have spring clean fever, since I cleaned my car out on Saturday morning,I took Irene and young Max to the Glasgow Science Museum,Max loves this place,I could'nt get him out the door at closing time,we also took in a 3D film in the Imax theatre, the film was called "Under the Sea",super to watch, all about sea life in tropical waters,Max amazed me with his recall of the sea creatures later, lion fish, sea dragons, clown fish and seals, well he is only six.

Missed ABC on Sunday,I didnt have my neighbour Betty to run there so I decided to visit a large flea market in Glasgow, too much for Sally to walk,so I dropped her at my sister Dot's,borrowed her husband Jim to share the trip with,it was an enjoyable wander around, bought a couple of things for Jack and Emma.Returned to Dot's for some fun and games with the kids.

Its been a week since I last posted, although I did drop in for a little lurk now and again, well everyones has been really busy,JudyMI still in hospital?hoping JudyKW is feeling well,Bud getting over his aches and pains, gosh seems everyone has been having a bumpy ride recently.Bud I am still a bit confused about your studying Pharmacy?good on you looking for a new career,I could do with some new adventure like that myself,we have a excellent Open University here in the UK,you can study at home, with the occassional summer school classes.my problem is focussing on something specific,I am interested in so many different things, all the ologies as we joke here.Pharmacy?can I imagine you in a Pharmists Shop, making up prescriptions?,or does this lead to some other career?.

Got to go,I will try and pop back later.Enjoy the rest of Monday, everyone.

  7. Good Evening Everyone,

Having to rewrite this post,I have been having bother with my laptop getting into forums,I wait for ages then up pops a message “The connection was reset whilst the page was loading”grrr. One lost post.

Well Saturday’s birthday dinner at Guidi’s was cancelled,I dropped Sally off at her hairdressers, early afternoon,a couple of hours later,I get a phonecall from the hairdressers, could I come and pick Sally up,when I arrive she is sitting on the reception’s sofa, two sheets to the wind.i have to assist her to the car and home.I phone Jennifer to put her off,she is’nt upset, kinda half expects these little events.Does that spoil my Saturday night? no way,I am off to Glasgow to see the Morgan Lee Band in the Bon Acord.I take my car rather than public transport, means I cannot drink, but I can still enjoy myself without that little pleasure.Scotland are playing rugby against France on Sunday in Edinburgh at Murrayfield Stadium.Into the pub arrives a mixed group of Scots and French supporters, one of the group in full Scots attire (I use that word carefully since I didn’t want to say dress),amazingly turns out to be English,he has lived in Glasgow for twenty years,is a paid up supporter of the SNP and wants home rule for Scotland, what a guy.The band were just brill,I think the French lads had seen a Scottish folk night out at its best, all the Scots up dancing, well if we cannot win at rugby,we can outdance the French. As it turns out Scotland loses, again,we were robbed!!,methinks we are headed for the wooden spoon.

Sunday,ABC then Dots in the afternoon,Monday am gymming and swimming .Pm met up with a financial advisor in my bank,I still have money in a savings account that only getting 0.5%,I really have to move it,inflation is gobbling up its value,i have also arranged to meet up with Jim of the gym’s nephew, in Airdries Tudor Hotel next Monday,to get an independant financial advisors advice before I make any rash decisions.

Hi Bud,I am really sorry to hear of all the aches and pains you are currently suffering, you really are having a hard time of it recently.Wishing you a speedy recovery back to full health. What are you studying online?

Hi Judy, another injured soldier, still in hospital?,thinking of baking a cake with a file in it to send to you, to effect an escape with.Hoping your lung can heal soon as to get you back home.

Bye everyone, enjoy the rest of Monday.

  8. Good Afternoon Everyone,

Its been a really enjoyable week, its amazing how the days just whizz by,yesterday I got online for my visa application via ESTA,seems I behaved myself last year, the USA have approved my application,I cannot wait until May 2nd comes round, hope everyone can make the Hope Summit.

Sally's birthday today, she shares it with George Harrison,I share mine with the naturalist David Attenborough, not that I am 85 LOL,do you share your birthday with anyone famous or special?.Jennifer and Chris are coming to Airdrie tonight,we have a table booked in Guidi's,time to discard my diet-again.Anne of the Morgan Lee band sent me a post telling me they are performing at the Bon Accord to-night,shame I am going to miss this one,I will miss their St Patricks, gig also, its my sisters husbands 60th birthday, and they have organised a big bash in a Indian function suite,no, not red indian,Indian,Indian.I told Anne I could'nt make that one either,I said to her, I told my sister Irene I could'nt come to Pats do,I had a previous invite from the Morgan Lee Band,my face is beginning to heal, and the lumps on my head are beginning to subside, but to save myself from further injury,I have decided to attend Pats night out instead.

I missed the yoga yesterday, our central heating boiler had brocken down, again,Scottish Gas repair man was coming at lunchtime to repair it,Sally attends a arts and crafts class on Friday mornings and they were having a day excursion to the Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum, actually she was home prior to the arrival of the repairman in late afternoon,I could have gone to the yoga, grrr. Is'nt it great? I paid £5,500 to have this central heating system installed about 4 years ago,I chose Scottish Gas,not on price but their reputation for quality and excellent after care, this boiler has brocken down goodness knows how many time since, the repair guy says,it not a good boiler I would have been better with a Wooster, hold me back, I could have strangled him,it was on their recommendation I chose this ****** boiler, grrr again.

Wishing you all a enjoyable weekend, bye for now.

  9. Hi Maggie,

Surgery is quite a trauma, isnt it?I had a upper right lobectomy myself, just prior to my surgery, my surgeon told me he was going to remove my whole right lung, well for reasons unknown to me,only the upper half was removed.

I can understand your feeling a wee bit down just now, just keep in mind such feelings are fleeting,it wont be long until, you will reclaim that big smile you shared with the world prior to your surgery. You have my very best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  10. Good Evening Bud,

Enjoy your wee break from work,I think your employer will now appreciate how much an asset you are to his firm, particularly with having to sub-contract in your replacement. Now that you have all this spare time on your hands theres no excuse for lack of a daily post, LOL.

  11. www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Re...

    Good Afternoon Everyone,

This morning I attended the launch of the Scottish Government's campaign to improve the levels of early detection of cancer in individuals. The above link is a press release to introduce,to the media three cancer survivors of breast, bowel and lung cancer.

The campaign was launched this morning in Glasgow at the Springburn Health Centre (the district I was born and brought up in)by Scotland's minister for health,Nichola Sturgeon. When I arrived at the health centre,I was met with my PR contact person Caroline, who described the mornings proceedings to me.First the assembled press photographers would take photographs of the three survivors standing in front of the campaigns display board,I think there were representatives from every major newspaper in Scotland, that done we were moved to a room,to be interviewed by several doctors,to describe our survivor journies to date,I think I gave a comprehesive account of myself, the doctors were really interested in what I had to say and very much agreed with me on issues I had raised for improvement, the other two suvivors gave a similar account of their experiences.

Suddenly Nichola enters the room, introduces herself to me,nice touch that she knows who I am,she sits on the vacant chair beside me,and engages me fully in conversation about my cancer journey,I am surrounded by a battery of cameras, clicking constantly,Nichola tells me that my story is what this campaign is all about, males ignoring symptoms they are experiencing, and not going to their doctors and having them checked out, also acknowledging my daughter's contribution in forcing my hand in visiting the doctor timeously. The other survivors also relate their stories to Nichola.

Another photo oppertunity we three survivors are taken as a group, then each suvivor is taken individually against the campaign's backdrop. We are then led into a conference room, seated to watch a TV commercial about the campaign. The scene is a lady walking in a health centre to visit the doctors surgery, she is talking about cancer, its prevalence, but if caught in time,it is survivable, she enters the surgery and sits in the doctors chair, the twist is,she is the one with cancer, not as we expected on her way to meet a cancer patient.

I am invited to leave the conference room to another location,I am met by a young lady from Real Radio, would I agree to do an interview for her station, think you know the reply,I did the interview, this time I am pleased,no fluffed lines,I speak fluently and intelligibly,I hope?.Not finished yet, come on wake up,I am now led to a tripod mounted movie camera,to be interviewed and filmed by another young lady,I tell her her tripod is not properly levelled, she smiles, unconcerned, the cameras fine,I do the interview, she seems pleased with my efforts.

The morning actually started with a text from my wee sister Irene,a workmate had listened to an interview by me on Radio Clyde 1,in fact, many persons in the health centre also mentioned similar to me,I thought this broadcast didnt start until Monday next?,Caroline said she would email me the link to this prog.

One downer this morning was en-route to the health centre, was gridlock on the freeway,I was worried about being late so I came off and made my way through back streets, one section I passed through,I saw two bright flashes behind me,i had just passed through a un-noticed speed camera, drat that a £60 fine and three points on my license, unless there was no film in the camera?but knowing my luck!,Bye for now.

  12. Hi Ella,

Sorry to hear of your Mums passing two years ago.Thank you for sharing with us your success in being a 7 1/2 years survivor,I am so happy for you,it also gives everyone here a boost to morale, that we all can survive this disease.

  13. Hi Tom,

Wow,48 years married?,well done the both of you,I am 40 years myself this September.Well, if your wife is a Frazer, theres no holding her down, expect another 48 years.Best wishes to both of you.

  14. Hi Maria,

Welcome to LCSC,its a pleasure to meet you.I am sorry to hear of your Dads dx,I k now just how much you and your families world has been turned upside down in hearing this news,it isnt easy, but I do promise you,for your Dad and everyone else involved, its hard at the beginning of this cancer journey, but it does get easier simply just with the passage of time.

It did take me some time to come to terms with my dx,I did a lot of research at the outset, mainly to become aquainted with lung cancer its treatments and prognosis, some of it didnt make for very good reading, but I persevered, looking for some silver linings to my cancer cloud. Then one day,I pick up a newspaper,in it an article about a Guy starting up a lung cancer support group in a local hospital near to where I live. This guy was dxd with SCLC in 1993,given only two months to live by his doctors,Robert is hospitalised for his chemo, his family are called to his bedside on more than one occassion,as his medical team dont think he will see the next day,Robert has other plans,he amazes his doctors by making a full recovery,in 2007,he is now dxd with NSCLC,again makes a full recovery after treatment.Today he is 73 years young, now my best friend, living a full and happy, healthy life.I have decided despite having been given only two years max by my GP,three and a bit years ago,to follow Roberts example.

Gosh what was your concern?,I have plumb forgot in all my enthusiasm in replying to you.

Ah I remember, Dianne's reply was just perfect, for me all my treatments, chemo and surgery was really a breeze, for all my concerns, nothing became a reality,my hair didnt fall out during chemo, not even the gray ones(drat)I wasnt sick,I wasnt a breathless invalid after my upper right lobectomy.Today I am a 5 day a week keep fit nut, swimming, gyming and yoga-ing.Realy enjoying the life I had prior to my dx.

OK,I know, every single lung cancer patient is different, but I just want you to know that there can be light at the end of this tunnel,so keep up a positive outlook,I so wish your Dad to be another Robert Lowe.Bye for now.

  15. Thanks Fred for passing this on,please pass on to Kasey my very best wishes.I have just completed a recorded interview with Radio Clyde,on the subject of Early dx of LC,the interview goes out to lots of independent radio stations in the UK.I have to meet Scotlands Minister for health Nicola Sturgeon on Monday next,to discuss my story, then give a presentation to an audience, apparently it will covered by the media.

Sorry I dont mean to be upstaging Kasey contribution,I just think she will be interested to hear early dx education to the public is happening here in the UK also.

  16. Eric Byrne says:

    February 11, 2012 at 7:09 am

Thank you Jack for sharing such an interesting account of your wifes cancer experience.I am sorry that you find yourself questioning the decisions you made in accepting the referral from a friend, for the surgery your wife received.Everyone of us at some time in our lives have made choices that with hindsight we might have made otherwise, your situation is particularly upsetting since in your own words,as you are in the medical profession, accessing information as to who would have been the surgeon of choice to perform this surgery which may have introduced you to another surgeon.Perhaps, you are being too critical of yourself, maybe this situation would have arisen if an alternative “better” surgeon was used?.

I have always had complete faith in all the medical practitioners who have treated my cancer, shopping around is not really the done thing in the UK’s NHS,I was simply told that the surgeon who performed my upper right lobectomy was the best in Scotland,Mr Jelawi,I know I am here today due to his skills.

It is true,if you are looking for a tradesperson such as a joiner or a plumber, its best to search out some recommendations from previous customers,I dont really think this is as easy in choosing a surgeon, how would a layperson identify the wheat from the chaff?,is there a league table pinned up on a staffroom wall in a hospital, that can indisputably show, who the top surgeon is

for a particular procedure?,I think such measurements are unlikely, due to so many variables.

  17. Eric Byrne

    Hi Everyone,

I think I shared with you all that I was invited as a guest by Radio Clyde to appear in a recording of a Government funded public broadcast on Lung Cancer, particularly its early diagnosis.Apparently, this prog will be edited and distributed to independant radio stations throughout the UK.Well I sat a desk for the recording, headphones on,mic in front of me,all I heard through the headphones, was the interviewer,Moira, saying right Eric, introduce yourself,no further direction than that, well,I described my LC journey through dx and treatments, following this,Moira then asked me,what a listener should do if they think, they show some of the symptoms for LC that I had described.Having now completed the interview,Moira thanked me for my contribution,I then left the studio.I wish I could tell you I gave a superb account of myself, but I really felt,I could have done this better, wishing I had said this instead of that, really thought I had blown an opertunity for lung cancer survivors getting their voice heard, since a week after this recording now,I had heard nothing from them,I thought, well, maybe the recording has been binned, and they are now looking for an alternative interviewee.

However today, just home from the gym,my wife tells me that someone wants me to return their call regarding last weeks interview, which I did,It was Nicola of Consolidated PR,who are behind the programme which is called Life Matters:Detect Cancer Early Campaign, she went on to describe having heard my recording, she tells me I had said exactly what she was looking for from me,that she is absolutely delighted with my performance,I cannot tell you how hearing this was such a relief to me.She tells me my recording will be broadcast from the 27th of Feb on several radio stations. In fact she went on to ask me if I would like to meet up with Scotland Minister for Health (Nichola Sturgeon) next Monday to share my story with her, then join two other cancer survivors breast and prostate,on a conference platform to share our stories with the public, apearently this event will have extensive press coverage.I will of course let you know how that went next Monday.

  18. Hi KatieB,

Briefly,I would love to continue as a moderator,I never got your message asking me to confirm this.

With regard to our members who by recent sad events, have decided to leave us,knowing Annette and Stephanie, they would be most upset that some people have reacted in this way.It is at these times,I feel better by being here sharing with my friends.

  19. Good Morning Everyone,

Its a bit overcast today, but really mild outside,Scotland for a change, has escaped the Artic weather that has had England in its clutches all last week, whisper it,I can feel spring is in the air.

Well its been a bit of a humdrum week for me,nothing much to share with you, still keeping up with my exercising, but with little or no evidence of weight loss.Bowling on Thursday, despite leading the match throughout,we lost the “last end”the game finished as a draw, however a thoroughly enjoyable evening. My gym buddy Jim,have now a regular Thurday lunch date together,at the Horseshoe Bar,we share the occasion with his son John and a friend Joe,really jovial company.

Nothing much planned for next week, although Hikers and Bikers are having a ceilidh on Friday,I will be wearing my kilt ensemble, and joining in the Scottish country dancing with gusto, dashing white sergeant, strip the willow, and the gay gordons(before that word had its new connotation).

Hi Judy,I hear you have some pillows for sale LOL,shame about the RV cleaner failing to show,I really hate time wasters, shame about the play lacking in humour, never mind how about this joke from my BIL?

An Arab Sheik, due for open heart surgery requires stand by blood donations, since his blood group is rare,a search is made to find a suitable donor, finally they find one,he is a Scot, following the surgery, the Sheik in gratitude sends the Scot a BMW,later the Sheik requires some corrective surgery and the Scot is called on again, this time the Sheik sends the Scot a thank you card, disappointed, the Scot hoping for more than a card, phones the Sheik for a explaination,”well laddie,I have got some Scottish blood in me noo”

Hi Ann,Whats an alarm clock?LOL,enjoy your babysitting,I am still waiting to be a grandfather, the closest I have got is puppy sitting my daughters new bichon frize. My very best wishes for your sons election campaign for County Judge, this is so American to me,we don’t have such in Scotland since all the judiciary are peer appointed, what is a County Judge anyway?.

Hi Bud,I am sorry to hear that your shoulder injury is having such an effect on your daily life.It really seems ridiculous to me that your employer is unable to augment your normal work duties to accommodate you, particularly since you are on full pay anyway.I do hope your envisaged post op rehab is not so protracted. You are absolutely right in using this opertunity as means to do something entirely for yourself, what kind of subject would you like to pursue?,I think this is a gentle way of introducing retirement to you?.

Going to Cumbernauld this afternoon,I picked up Irenes glass panel for her back door, that was originally cut to the wrong size, hope it fits this time, bye for now.

  20. I cannot find the words that would adequately describe my feelings when I heard of Stephanies passing. One might say, that this was not to be unexpected, given her medical prognosis,as her cancer had developed in her liver,I suppose naively,I was hoping to meet her again at the Hope Summit again on WashingtonDC in May .

I treasure that brief moment in time, when I put my arm around her,to have our picture taken,to hold her, never thinking that we both shared a lung cancer diagnosis, that we could still share unlimited time together.Alas, never thinking that this, would be the last day we would have together. As KatieB described,I spent most of my time chatting with her male friends, who shared with my common interest in the architectural world, now wishing instead I had spent my limited time with Stephanie.

Who was this Stephanie person I had come to know and love?,I suppose such feelings would be developed after years of sharing her company?,that was not the case,I could only claim to have have known her through posting in LCSC,over the last two years or so.What was so special about Stephanie?,well I suppose unlike me,she had no history of smoking, and yet she accepted her diagnosis with a resignation I find totally amazing, her courage and humour in living with lung cancer just amazes me,to think of all the feedback she received from her medical team from her dx in in 2008 until recently,which,co-incidentally,was when I was dxd,she accepted gracefully.

Since my dx on Oct 2008,unlike many others here in LCSC,having completed my treatments in Jan 2009, ,I accept that lung cancer can be such a pernicious cancer that it may revisit me,sometime in the future, please may God allow me to be so courageous and stoic as Stephanie was in facing this trial.
