  1. Hey Deb,

    Not an expert in this, but checked with my wife, she worked in insurance ( major medical) for some 15 yr.'s. Now she's in law, thank goodness!! :):) So she is a bit rusty but say's you should fill out the form if they are requiring it and they must offer you insurance., at least of parity with what you have. Now again, she relates more to major med. coverage but seems it would be the same. I also think they would be treading on real thin ice if they did anything that might be viewed as an attempt to discriminate against those with a disease. Violation of Fed., ADA law. I think the question you want to ask is " if anyone can be denied this new coverage??"

    When this happens in my Co. and just did with medical plans, they include all and ask no questions, it's simpler. I was just able to up my life insurance by $57K with no questions. Told ya that ya should a come work with us. All positions are filled now! :P

    good luck with your insurance, hope it helps

    God bless and be well

  3. Hi Karen;

    Thanks for posting, was getting a bit worried, when I did'nt see anything on Fri. :? ;

    I'm real glad that there is no change to your condition but have to agree with Ry, think it's time for a new doc. No way you should have to wait that long for results and you deserve better answer's than change your insurance co. I think a lung dr. would be good, I have one but really rely on my oncologist. He is really thorough. Ya know, I just finished my tests on Fri. We did a bone scan ( last wk. ), CT scans of the head, chest and abdomen, X- rays and the bloodwork. It's once every 6 months now but during the first year it was every 3 to 4 months. I also called my insurance co. right from the start and let them know what I was going through and discussed coverage issue's.

    Good luck to ya, will see ya on chat!

    God bless and you'll be in my prayers

  11. Ahh Nance;

    So very sorry for you and Dave. :( Know you have many pulling and praying for the two of you. I like your idea of going to MD Anderson. Just keep fighten the beast. :x

    I agree with Carleen and love what norme says. You three are much alike, real troopers. I like keep it simple by puttin one foot in front of the other, watch the expectations and leave the results up to God!! Know your not alone and you'll be in my prayers

    God bless and hang in there

  12. Hi Lynne;

    My heart goes out to ya, you two got alot on your plate, so very sorry Dean is having to go through this. My only thoughts are that regardless of the dr. , I still would seek a second opinion. It's just a smart thing to do. There may be alternatives, trials, new technology in radiation that your present doc is unaware of. I know MD Anderson's in Texas, you might want to try them.

    It may not change anything but I'm sure it will provide you with additional comfort. In any case you'll both be in my thoughts and prayers.

    God bless and be well

  15. Well hello Estelle;

    Yes, so nice to hear from you. :) and happy you had a nice time in Nashville. Am a bit jealous though, wish I was headed south for the winter, I also hate the cold, it's just too much of a struggle.

    anyway, be well and I'll be saying a prayer that your scans come out clear

    God bless

  16. Hello Don;

    Welcome to our wonderful group, But so very sorry you have been dx.'ed with this terrible beast. Can't really help you with the VAT's but I did want to say that for me the most important thing was that they were able to remove all the cancer and that the margins were clear. That meant that they removed my entire left lung along with 18 nodes. That was 2 and 1/2 years ago and life is certainly not what it was but I'm still a grateful SURVIVOR today. Also, please don't hesitate to get second opinions, look to get treatment at a cancer center by experienced dr.'s, write down your questions and try to have someone go with you. I know much of this sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people take things for granted. It's really easy to get caught up in the fear and anguish that goes with this disease and miss these things. Anyway, your in a good place here, many will help ya, We all believe that no one should go through this alone!

    again welcome, Oh, the family pic was taken 8 weeks after surgery, I was hiking in the rainforests of Costa Rica, not easy but doable! :shock: I was 50 at the time.

    God bless and be well

    All things considering, I am a SURVIVOR, so far, and after dealing with lung cancer well what else could happen!! :shock::shock: Just a wee bit worried about finding wayward children at my door or a flock of live chickens from Okieland laying eggs on my deck.

    Nahhh!!

    God bless and be well
