Mom's pulm. told us yesterday that although the doc. could not see the area where the tumor was - with the bronchoscope - the cells that were extracted were malignant. They can classify it as non-small cell, but that is about all they can tell so far. The pet scan lit up where the tumor is, but they said the few lymph nodes near the tumor were "inconclusive". She has been referred to a thoracic surgeon, and we will know today when her appt. is.

It just seems like so little information, but they by no means said she wasn't a candidate for surgery. I guess that is a good thing. They also said the PET didn't show involvement from what they could see anywhere else. So, it's on to the next step as you all know. Forge ahead and don't look back!
