terriep Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 Mom's pulm. told us yesterday that although the doc. could not see the area where the tumor was - with the bronchoscope - the cells that were extracted were malignant. They can classify it as non-small cell, but that is about all they can tell so far. The pet scan lit up where the tumor is, but they said the few lymph nodes near the tumor were "inconclusive". She has been referred to a thoracic surgeon, and we will know today when her appt. is. It just seems like so little information, but they by no means said she wasn't a candidate for surgery. I guess that is a good thing. They also said the PET didn't show involvement from what they could see anywhere else. So, it's on to the next step as you all know. Forge ahead and don't look back! Wendy Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 I hope your mom receives more information when she sees the thorasic surgeon! I know this is a really scary time for families, but you should have a game plan soon. All my best, Wendy Quote
Maryanne Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 Hi Terri, Sorry to hear the news about your mom. But at least they can operate. That is a positive sign. Prayers sent to your mom and you. Maryanne Quote
john Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 Yes it is bad news that there may be cancer but it does sound like they are going to operate. That is the best chance for cure. Quote
