terriep Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 This may be a silly question - what does undifferentiated mean? Quote
kamataca Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 In what context? Maybe that would help. Kelly Quote
terriep Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 My sister-in-law's sister was just diagnosed with cancer - they don't even know where it has originated yet - but she said they mentioned "undifferentiated". SIL did remember that much anyway. I just thought maybe there was a general-type definition that I could help her with. I know that I have heard that term used, but have no idea what it means! Quote
john Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 undifferentiated is a description of what the cancer cells look like as compared to a normal cell. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art ... ekey=20476 I assume she had a biopsy Quote
Fay A. Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 A simple way of looking at this is the cancer cells are so disorganized that they don't resemble the tissue where they were found growing. There is something called ACUP-Cancer of Unknown Primary. This diagnosis is given when pathologists are unable to determine the primary site for the cancer. Quote
