Letter from surgeon

Hi team.

My mom had her checkup yesterday and all seems well except for that stubborn little air leak. Surgeon says it may take a while for it to stop. Other than that there is no fluid and the lungs look almost indentical in size. This is a reply email from my mom's surgeon. I wrote her to ask if my mom was technically in remission or not.

M. Velasco:

You should be optimistic about you mother's progress thus far. I would be happy to have her pathology slides reviewed at Lutheran General if they haven't been reviewed by a second group of pathologists for you to reconfirm the diagnosis. Just drop the slides off at my reception desk and I will have them reviewed. I don't think she needs a bronchoscopy at this point. I am sure Dr. De la Torre will follow her very closely for evidence of recurrence but for the moment you have every reason to be pleased with the PET/CT results. You are right most PET's only detect nodules over 5mm. so small lesions can be missed.
